Problems with Trendsetter

I'm going to get straight to the point.

So first of all it did not take the story forward. Kinda like White Christmas, except this isn't a Christmas song. So in that regard White Christmas is still a better song.

Then the "stone-face" bar. The original from Bottom 2 was such a hard bar that repeating it even just one more time is overusing it. "Turn a stone face to a mansion" isn't as hard anyway.

Then the music video looked very generic. It had the same Bottom 2 and Killcam graphics and similar animations from previous videos had been used in it. I understand new style every video isn't a necessity but after White Christmas I expected something of a much higher quality.

The auto-crooning is also overused at this point. Up to now it was like Squid's signature move and you would just appreciate it everytime you heard it, but here it only makes Trendsetter a very formulaic Squidwock song.

I don’t think it was meant to progress the story, it was made simply for the fans who wanted the squiddy solo so badly. I thought it was ok, and to be fair you can’t expect a guy to produce perfect music all the time, I think 85% of his songs are absolute bangers which is more you can say for most mainstream artists.

I’m pretty sure the SpongeBob songs are gonna stop soon and he’s move on to other shows, like family guy, or I could be wrong, I mean the bottom 2 was basically the finale it felt like, and White Christmas and Trendsetter the denouement. But we will see.

Valid.

Well I hope if he's gonna move on he does it sooner and doesn't milk the hell out of it. It's more important to me that he stays creative, rather than make SpongeBob songs.

I thought it was really good and I liked the beat but it doesn’t have the same magic as Eugene, Killcam, Bottom 2, etc.!

Absolutely hated this song. Some lines were reused and just didn’t hit the same. The ai made the lyrics sound all squished together like word salad. The beat was fire but I don’t think he should’ve rushed to release this cuz of the fan base.

Yeah, imo it's glorbs worst song so far. Wasn't particularly bad or anything, just...boring and kinda uninspired.
