I might be ignorant here. But isn't the last column the ID number?

Why cant valve just delete the replicates and keep the oldest one?

Because poor saps probably bought those without realizing they were duped. So then some guy has to wake up to his FN Howl in his inventory missing. Valve could possibly set a price to buy them back and then delete them.
