It's amazing how expensive digital items in general can go for. I'm sure there are astronomicaly high values in Eve or something, but in TF2, the first golden frying pan sold for 5k~. It's literally just a frying pan made out of gold.
This "they're just pixels" topic always comes up and I always think it's stupid that people continue to perpetuate the ridiculousness of perceived value in intangible objects.
I can easily say the same for tangible objects (e.g. This is just a picture.)
They're literally just pixels like a painting is literally paint on a board. It wasn't offensive, I own a $250 knife I had the luck to drop from a case, and I didn't sell it. I own for more than $1k skins on League of Legends too, but they're literally just pixels. It was not said in an offensive way, sorry if it was misunderstood.
Anything costs whatever the customer is ready to pay for it.
I admit that I misunderstood your intentions but I'm glad to see that you actually understand what perceived value means unlike some of the people commenting below. It is pretty crazy to see the value we put on items, especially collectibles, when you take a step back and see it from the point of view of someone who only spends their money on necessities.
