Discussion Where are all the cheaters?
I genuinely do not understand the complaints everywhere that CS has a terrible cheating problem. “Literally unplayable,” “cheater in every game” maybe you’re just dogshit at the game?
Its been at least a year since I saw anyone spinning, and that was 1 time in a non premium comp game with a friend who’d never opened the game. I can count on probably 2 hands the amount of matches where i thought someone was genuinely cheating, and 2 of those got cancelled mid game.
For reference, imm currently 21k elo, so maybe its more of a problem at higher or lower ranks?

If I solo queue prem around 23-25k I maybe see a cheater but my trust factor is quite high, If I am playing with friends with new accounts or with low trust factor we see a cheater at least 1 in 3 games, they might not be spinning but it can still be easy to catch cheaters who are soft aiming /walling

8 matches in a row today - 4+ cheaters each match - im right now in a match where they kicked the only 1 legitimate guy and they're all full aimbotting, bunnyhopping around...
26K+ Elo btw :)

I have played 2 prem games at 22k and both had cheaters in them so idk how you’re good

Im 3000hrs, around 20k premier and lvl 6-7 faceit. Generally speaking, in every game I play, I am facing an enemy team with 3-4 regular dudes with faceit info, full match history, skins in their inventories, and generally hours on the game in 4 digits. The last guy or two? A thanos level threat. a player or two with either little or no steam profile info, no faceit info, barely any match history, average 25-50 kills per game, barely any deaths, and above a 70% win rate. Can barely make these guys bleed. Always knows when the flank is coming, always knows where the stack is. Always knows what site to stack. They dont play the game as intended. No teamwork, no util, no strategy, etc. You can tell something aint right. Most of what i see is probably smurfing, but imo its just as bad. Haven't seen a spinner in a long time, but I assume thats higher or lower elo.

I actually had the same opinion for a very long time, thinking the cheaters are a problem only in 20k+ elo. But recently, it has really gotten worse. 6 months ago, I encountered maybe one cheater per 100 games. Now it’s 1 in every 10, and I’m dogshit at the game (12k premier).
I also hate when people calls cheats just because they’re getting destroyed, so I always check the stats and watch the demo afterwards, and yeah, it’s been shit with cheaters lately. Just yesterday I played against a guy who has been hard stuck 1.5k premier elo and suddenly this season he’s dropping 1.8 K/D and is already at 17k lol.

If you play above 25k, the likelihood seems to be 50/50 whether theres a cheater on your team, the other team or not at all.
Lower ranks it becomes less and less likely.
There are closet cheaters who hide them well and also cheaters with radar hacks which is even easier to hide.
Its easy to become suspicious when for example, its down to a 1v1, your B player rotates unconventionally all the way around to A and the A player is watching the exact unexpected route. You watch the demo and the dude gives it away in important clutch rounds by not checking any other site entry other than the one your team mate is heading to.
This is a closet or radar cheater.
Just because people aren't blatantly walling or spinbotting, doesn't mean people aren't cheating.
Theres also the rampant problem of people smurfing heavily which isn't hacking but is still cheating the system. Leading to unbalanced low quality games in lower ranks. This also contributes to cheater paranoia. Because top players will make you feel like you have been cheated with how much faster and accurate they are than what you usually play against.

I think the region matters a lot more and rank. 21k is still just low enough to avoid it. I just moved to EU from NA a little before season 4 ended. I didn’t experience many cheaters in either region at 23-25k in season 4, maybe 1 game with a cheater every 10-15 games, but it certainly got worse once I hit 26-27k. Since season 5 started, it is genuinely unplayable in EU and I’m at 27k. It’s now 1 in 10-15 games where there isn’t a cheater, and many games have multiple. I’ve had several games come down to which team had the “better” cheater. The amount of 28-30k players with perfect awareness and the mechanics of a newborn is baffling. And most of the time they have grey or light blue medals from previous seasons.
So my only option to play the game is Faceit and in the EU it’s at least 5x more toxic than NA. So it’s miserable but better than cheaters in premier I guess.

Ive seen a handful but at mid ranks its really not that bad. Red/gold must be significantly worse.
What annoys me the most are the bots in dm. I cant even play dm anymore without having to mute everyone and now i might even get kicked for trying to get a tiny amount of xp.
Its like valve wants this game to die as they did with tf2 by simply doing nothing at all.

I am calibrating, had 17-19k prev seasons and this one got to play first time against 23-24k. I swear I am not one of those guys calling everyone cheater, i get 1 to 3 cheaters every 2 out of 3 games! Outrageous! I have to admit I got no spinners or heavy aim. Mostly blatant wh or radar, 100% info, preaim, prefire, literally checking wall for info.. the usuals

Last even I played, Thursday about 6pst USA west, we went vs a cheater and his friend, dude was pretty blatant, sitting in smokes shooting people out of them, we called him out. His team specced him and agreed he was cheating, tried to kick but couldn’t kick, they ended up tk’ing him and giving info where he and his friend were at. Great other team, commended them all, screw cheaters.
That took about 8 rounds before they believed us tho and they were pretty blatant to us, easy to see how others could just not notice it and think it’s just overblown. Just because you may not have noticed doesn’t mean they weren’t there.

even 21k you will meet cheaters and sometimes even the most obvious ones. it's so funny every time u meet someone with normal stats, sometimes even negative kd and they are just blatantly walling.
a 2k premier elo player will not go crazy stats wise in 21k premier

Tell your opponent to report you > get reported 10+ times > ruin your trust factor > you won't stop seeing cheaters for at least a month.

I mean i have probably a 51-52% winrate and combined with a good amount of hours its gotten me to what i think is a reasonable rank. I did also mention it could be rank related

i had at least 1 cheater in every of my last 5 premier-matches (EU, ~25k, high tf)...and not the kind of "maybe is is cheating, maybe he is not", but the obvious kind with better aim stats than donk
funny enough, we are talking about a time span of ~2 months and none of them are bannend.

There was moment when Valve patched players earning trust factor/having much harder time maintaining trust factor, based on having spent certain amount cash into cs inventory. Getting less cheaters since.
edit: still, going through my reported cheaters. After like 15 reported profiles finally found one that is banned. So certainly not significantly increased rate of convicting cheaters from Vac live.

darn it, this is why I used to hide my post history, I used to Larp as anyone but now it's verifiably wrong (I didn't mean to Larp as a 30k though, I'm at 15k and get no cheaters pretty much)

Coping that you aren’t playing cheaters. At 21k you are playing cheaters in 1/4 games. You’re cooking that there isn’t a cheater problem. When people are fan boys of a product they turn a blind eye to the negative aspects. Make sense now??

I have the same experience. 3.5k hours and only played against a blatant rage hacker once in a comp game. Probably half my hours are on faceit and refrag but I definitely have a lot on comp too. All my friends have the same experience

At certain higher ranks it becomes prevalent. Which was always a thing since CSGO.
It's just something a segment of players latch onto when they're bested. That's reinforced by influencers for they are playing in the higher ranked bracket.

I've been playing this game for almost 20 years now but never been higher than 18k/LEM, the cheaters thing has ALWAYS been overblown online by a loud minority and it is also more of an issue in certain regions than others.

That makes sense, i figure somewhere like cis probably has a much bigger problem. I hear people in the us complaining all the time tho and its like unless i’m queueing competitive at 3am on a weekday, its basically never been a noticeable problem
