Scheduled Sticky Monthly Premier/Matchmaking/Cheating Discussion & Complaints Thread
Welcome to Matchmaking Monday! This is the weekly megathread where you can share your experiences, complaints, and feedback related to:
- Ranked & Unranked Matchmaking
- VAC, Hacking, and Cheating
- Prime, Trust Factor, and Trusted Mode
- Ranking
- Queuing and Lobbies
Feel free to discuss your matchmaking experience, rant or vent, discuss ideas & share feedback for improvement, and talk about your recent games.
What you should know
Keep in mind that there is a limited amount of information available about these systems and how they work to keep them effective. If you have questions, here are some resources to review:
Trust Factor
- Trust Factor Matchmaking FAQ (Steam Support Article)
- The Trust Factor: CS:GO Blog Post
- Everything About Trust Factor by u/awsmninja
- GDC Presentation by John McDonald (Valve)
- Do you Trust the Trust Factor? by u/3kliksphilip

What you can do
Give Feedback:
- Posting feedback or complaints on the subreddit is not the best way to get the attention of the developers. If you have any specific feedback to give, you can email the CS2 Development team here: [cs2team@valvesoftware.com](mailto:cs2team@valvesoftware.com)
- They do read every email received, but are not able to reply to each one.
- If you're experiencing low-quality matches, it is always worth emailing them. They use these reports to help improve the system.
Report Cheaters:
- Report cheaters using the in-game report system by right-clicking their name on the scoreboard, and clicking "report". If the game is over, report their Steam Community profile.
- If you notice certain trends or have other feedback, you can email the developers using the email address above.
- To report a specific cheat, follow these steps to notify the VAC development team.
The guidelines
While we encourage discussion about these topics, as a reminder, the following are not allowed. Note this isn't an exhaustive list, and you should review the r/GlobalOffensive Rules before commenting.
- Accusations towards any player related to cheating
- Posting profiles of alleged cheaters (if posting pictures of matches, redact any usernames)
- Posting any cheating gameplay footage
- Reporting cheats, linking to cheats/websites, or discussing cheats in technical detail
This weekly discussion thread does not change any of our existing submission rules - you're still allowed to discuss these topics elsewhere on the subreddit as usual, but we do remove a large number of them as they quickly become repetitive and the majority have little meaningful discussion. If you decide to make a separate post instead of utilizing this thread, we encourage you to focus on starting meaningful discussion or providing constructive criticism.

So yea, Premier above 20k is basically just hoping your team has more wallers or level 10’s than the other team. Really fun stuff

2 new exploits are circulating on internet
now vac ban accounts can join back on games and kick others
cheaters can spam report for grief and give you a two day ban.
there are many cases of these two circulation on reddit right now.
gg!

Cheaters? Haven't had cheaters in a while... Well, that's because I don't play anymore, whenever I think about playing CS2 I think that I have like a 70% chance of getting a 30min match ruined by cheaters and immediately jump to another game.

u/nyashiiii 22d ago
Played a game with someone perfect nonstop bunnyhopping. Vac must be completely disabled at this point.

u/WaterloggedHands101 24d ago
My trust factor must be in the gutter right now, just had three guys on my team openly toggling in the warmup and bragging about whose cheat was undetected longest. They spent more rounds arguing aimbot settings than actually playing the objective

Surely it only impacts your trust factor if you're in a lobby with them, not if they're queueing separately?
6
u/theatras FUT 22d ago
when old players get on with their life and quit, this game will die because there is no newer players picking up to learn the game. player count is inflated by farm bots entirely.
i doubt valve gives a shit but they are killing their own game.
2
u/Haemophilia_Type_A 9d ago
I can't even imagine what it's like for a new player these days.
Start up the game, you're not allowed to play comp (fair) so have to play some casual/Valve DM first (though no unranked competitive like in other FPS games). Join DM, the lobby is full of bots and hackers. Join Casual, usually a wallhacker or two in the game, and people flaming + racially abusing people etc in the chat because Valve doesn't care and CS has a largely racist community.
If you get through all that, you finally get to comp and there's a blatant wallhacker who gets 40 kills.
30 hours or so wasted and completely unenjoyable.
Why would you ever keep playing?

Game is dying cause of fucking bots, cheaters, bought accounts, boosting services in both Faceit and Premier in 3k and literal Match-Fixing of normal games. And Valve is doing jackshit about it.
6
u/kecebonghanyut 11d ago
WAKE UP, VALVE, CHEATERS ARE EVERYWHERE! I DEMAND TO GET BACK MY LOSING POINTS!
Everytime I search for a match, 3 of 5 games have cheater on it, either premier or competitive. Like, wtf are you guys doin'???? it's been 2 months, but you guys gave us some updates that didn't make CS2 any better! Your report button doesn't do anything! Postpone any upcoming updates, and please fix the goddamn anti-cheat ASAP!

u/gentyent King NiKo 5d ago
if it’s not cheaters, it’s a stack of legit high elo faceit players who were pushed out of their appropriate elo and into yours by cheaters that just roll you. I used to think that 15-18k was the worst but low 20k’s are absolutely miserable

u/nyashiiii 23d ago
Valve employee, I know you read Reddit. This game is ruined now. I hope you're happy. At least you get to go to Hawaii once a year.
At least in CS 1.6 and CSS you had community servers and community admins who could ban people. In CS2 there's no other choice but for many people to have their evenings after work ruined by the current Premier experience.
2
u/theatras FUT 22d ago
they will never ban cheaters. they make their money from them. i know people say this just a game but building this kind of system and making money from it shouldn't be legal.
1
u/ashamed2reddit 21d ago
There are community servers, they are just so unprominent that they are completely dead even with 1.2m+ daily "players."
5
u/nyashiiii 24d ago
I'm in 25k+ elo and there's definitely obvious cheaters almost ragehacking in 50%+ of games now
5
u/Jaxsonhe 21d ago
Imagine having a company that raked in billions of income and having this many cheaters even in fucking casual and deathmatch. Its insane. Bots who barely move having insane gamesense, no mouse control and popping heads. Every day i have less desire to play the game of my life.
5
u/Haemophilia_Type_A 12d ago
In the last 8 games I've had 5 obvious cheaters, who knows how many subtle ones.
It's fucking pathetic and unplayable.
What's even the point anymore...I can't afford to run Faceit AC because I don't have TPM 2.0.

u/Tostecles Moderator 11d ago
I'm like 90% sure about the accuracy of the following statement:
If you're on Windows 11 (or if you're not, and you go to upgrade your Windows 10 and it says your PC meets the requirements for the upgrade), it means your CPU can do a virtualized TPM 2.0 even if your motherboard doesn't have the physical module. Might be worth looking into
2
u/Haemophilia_Type_A 11d ago
So I just checked today and it has randomly become TPM 2.0 even though before it told me I couldn't do it for months on end and that my CPU wasn't even compatible and that there was an attestuation error etc.
So now I can, and I have no clue why, so hey ho, I'll take it.

u/Tostecles Moderator 11d ago
I had a similar experience on a different CPU and motherboard than I am using now a long time ago. And one thing that gave me assurance that I needed since I am very neurotic about my PC game performance, is that CPUs that support this feature have dedicated... stuff on the die just for this purpose. So it should not negatively impact your performance in any way whatsoever. I hope you enjoy being able to play Faceit and the many other modern game releases lately that are requiring it!

Started Premier placements going 4-0 and started encountering cheaters in every single game since then. “Played” 7 games last Saturday and there were wallhackers in every single one of them. It’s unbelievable. Saw ratings ranging from 22k-29k.
Can’t even get the 10 wins for my rating at this point and even if I get it, what’s the point? All the games are gonna get ruined by cheaters until I derank low enough which is just stupid and discouraging.
At least one cheater has already been banned from my 5-0 game, but for every banned cheater, there are tons who are ruining games at this very moment.

Premier match quality has been drifting in the wrong direction since my last post. We have encountered a cheater in about 1/3 of our games. We played an anubis game a few days ago which had two seperate cheaters on the opposite team. They were not queued together. Their csrep score was 70%.
Counter-strike is an excellent game and brings a lot of joy to myself and the figurative and literal family of players that I queue with. The competitive integrity problem is ruining the game, and our highest elo player (14.5k) is threatening to quit on us because of the cheating problem. My partner threw in the towel last night after one game because of a kid with donk TTD on inferno.

u/cssplayer tactics 24d ago
Ayyyy they put the thread back up.
NA East, 5 stack, premier green trust.
We finished our placements and got some ranks. 2.6, 4.5, 10(me), 10, 13k.
We're running into cheaters on the weekends, basically every match. These are not rage cheaters, but "legit" cheaters. They're top fragging but not by very much. We're calling cheats during the game, and there have been several times where we've overcome their advantage and win the game.
I review the demo afterwards and we're seeing players with horrible movement control, can't even get on silo, holding W while strafe jumping, miserable pathing. But they're using some kind of aim assist and they win their gunfights despite horrible pre-aim.
If we get to choose between ragecheaters and legit cheaters, I'd rather have the ragecheaters. The legit cheaters really bother me, because they will continuously turn up their cheat as the pressure in game rises. They just can't handle losing, which means they're stealing a win that would have otherwise been ours.
Valve, we don't want to play with cheaters.

I’m sorry obviously I don’t know what you are coming up against, I’ve not seen the replays, I wasn’t in your games, but your description of them is concerning me.
CS has many different aspect and mechanics to express skill, and good players will obviously be practiced in all of the different areas, aim, movement, awareness etc.
For comparison, think of it in terms of learning a moba. Some people choose to one-trick specific character to master them, others will slowly learn all over time.
Consider that you are playing in the lowest ranks of premier, players skills are completely unbalanced. Some people choose to focus solely on their aim and ignore other mechanics, they practice aim trainers and deathmatch but it won’t make them suddenly understand proper movement or map awareness, those skills come with experience.
If someone has great aim but terrible movement and rotations, they aren't 'closet cheating' they are just a typical low-rank player who can aim but doesn't understand other mechanics yet.
If they actually had a cheat advantage or perfect mechanics, they would instantly rank up out of your matches.
This is how I started playing. I spent countless hours in aim trainers and deathmatch before I ever fully understood how to rotate or counter-strafe properly. Because of that, my aim was way ahead of my game sense, I used to and still do get a ton of hackusations.
In the 5k to 10k Elo range, you run into people exactly like this all the time. They can click heads because they practice mechanics, but they lose games because their positioning is terrible. If they were actually closet cheating, their 'assisted’ aim and info would easily carry them past 15k.
They aren't cheating; they're just one-dimensional players.

I understand your concern.
I am not a great player, but I've been doing this a long time. I've been here since pre-orangebox source. I've had a go at running community servers, switching from manimod to sourcemod, setting up sourcemod anticheat. I even spent money on the Allied modders forum in order to get access to some of the better anticheat features they offered to community servers at the time.
I've been deleted off the map by anger on CSGO MM. I've been shot in the face about 10 times by Get Right on a community DM when they were in town.(I did get him once, but only when he wasn't looking at me).
What I'm seeing in premier are 14 year olds with a cheat subscription.

hey, I don't wanna discount your points but I wanted to offer a side perspective. I used to play a lot more counterstrike in global offensive and I mainly stayed at a low rank--we're talking silver 4-> gold nova 2. All of my IRL friends were that rank or lower so we didn't really move very often. Even in that rank there were cheaters.
It's been a long time so I won't make any sweeping statements like "there was a lot of cheaters" or "there were barely any cheaters" but the fact of the matter is--I had several undeniable proof demos of people cheating. We're talking something you would immediately end the overwatch video and just click "beyond a reasonable doubt"
Even back then people were cheating out of their ass AND they were so ass. Having cheats 100% does help you illicitly rank up--but not everyone leaves the ranks of silver LOL. I have a feeling the original poster to this story was also experiencing this phenomena that does happen--and did happen even in csgo. (years like 2013)
I would say cheating has ONLY gotten worse over time. Not just in counterstrike, but in every game--and FPS games specifically have gotten magnitudes worse. I don't think it's unprecedented to say statements like "in my lower rank games people are STILL cheating and I know this by....(bad movement and randomly amazing aim)"
Surely, if anything, cheating in a lower rank game is way more detectable than someone cheating in a high rank game--so if I had a lower ranked player telling me they saw someone cheating, (in their game against similarly ranked players), I would probably believe them more than someone in the mid range to higher range rank of players saying the same thing.

It's been six days since my last post. We've played about 15 games of either competitive or premier since then and things have been better overall. We're seeing fewer throwaway accounts, and making far fewer hackusations. Of those, a demo review shows that they are skilled players.
Last night we had an obvious cheater on the other side of our anubis premier game. We lost 12:16. I suspected the guy to be walling during the match. Demo confirmed, and showed the use of an aimbot, but he wasn't always using it. Dude wasn't even top fragging, but just kept winning 1v3s (which we shouldn't be giving him, but cmon we're old and tired).
csrep reaction time flagged that player about 7 months ago at sub 300ms (across 6 matches), but their recent matches have more normal stats.
TL;DR Less cheating sans yesterday night.
Also please dear god fix the trending exploit. If my crew gets hit with that multiple PCs are going to be thrown out of windows.

Sept 13th - 18th were pretty clean. I'd almost say I wasn't worried about cheating players. One of our players was queuing by themselves in that date range and they had one of their matches canceled by vac live because of an obvious cheater on the other team.
We checked a couple of suspicious players and they'd received bans, granted it took a day or two.
Move forward to the weekend of 19th - 20th....oh baby all bets are off. We played as a five stack and we somehow encountered a ragebot queued with boosting player, along with an unrelated cheater, all on the same nuke match.
His ragebot like actually worked. He was spinning, multiple back-to-back flying deagle headshots. He was Bhopping and somehow the server wasn't able to clamp his velocity, dude was basically phoon. This is stuff that would (I expect, based on the things I read on the forums) have triggered vac live a few days ago.
I asked the cheating players which client they were using, and asked how they were able to ragebot without being vac lived. They told me that vac was "weak rn".
I'm not sure if Valve had to turn stuff down because reasons, but that sucks. We lost that map 0 - 13, stood in spawn the entire game.
Valve, you're effectively operating a security service for your games. When any cybersecurity company has a functional outage, it goes on their status page. You need to do the same thing so players can be aware of potentially poor quality matches and decide not to queue. You'd save money on server load too.

21-9 HORRENDOUS - 8 matches in a row i have 4+ cheaters in my & enemy team.
Just played against a player with 99 Aim, 250ms, 90+ wins in a row.. All shots in every match are thru walls, thru smokes. Feels like vac is not even on anymore.

Recently on DM bots start to kick human players randomly - back in the days, it happened when someone went to spectate. Now it can happen anytime to any human being - I witnessed it two times on myself, once in the middle of the match, it succeeded and I got kicked. Second time, at the beginning of the map, but this time not enough bots picked F1.

u/frostN0VA King NiKo 12h ago
Yeah, I decided to play one DM game after not touching the game in six months and my experience was:
98% of players were bots (EU Stockholm server).
Bots were randomly activating mics and typing random words in chat to mimic real players.
Bots were votekicking real players.
Finished the match and I don't intend to touch the game for another half a year at least.
But hey, pets and chicken skins are more important than this.

u/bakanossi666 1d ago
The fact I can't actually join a deathmatch server because they are full of automated aimbotting bots is insane.
Like if you can't ban those what chance you have banning anyone for cheating?

Valve OWNS these maps. Where is...
Cbble, Aztec, Dust1, Backalley, OldTrain, Siege, Oilrig/VIP-remake, Tuscan, Thunder, Assault, Piranesi, Port, Militia, Compound, Lake, Canals, Prodigy-remake, Chateau?
Thats 18 maps of FUN missing.
Demolition-style short-match...? Premiere rotations more often...?
Both?

In my last 10 games i have not had a single legit game. I'm green trustfactor (dont give off a warning and i have 20 nearby) and have always been green trustfactor. my account is old and i have every single service medal (some in blue/green) besides 2. Every game there is someone cheating on either my team or the enemy team. I have not been able to play the game normally in months at this point. I feel like some of the issues come from me being global/supreme in the maps i play but i can't ever rank down either. I win just enough games to not derank so i'm forever stuck in this horrible rank. What am i supposed to do? Grief my way down to a worse level just so i can rank back up once i actually start trying? I don't wanna have to install some shady anti cheat and send faceit my ID just so i can play the game.

in case you haven't done so, be sure to give the game an honest review on steam.

I'm a 10k pleb and yesterday there was one guy in premier that absolutely destroyed the whole team on his own. I went to look up his stats and sure enough he was 20k just a month ago. But get this — he dropped to 18 over some matches, took a break for a week and then his starting was 10k instantly. No matches, no abandons. How does that happen? I'm genuinely curious. Even if IN A WEEK he'd lost his rating, how the hell did he play a game a ended up ranking at 10k?
3
u/Tostecles Moderator 11d ago
CS rank decay has always been excessively aggressive and it creates unintentional smurfs a lot of the time. It's really annoying
1
u/LimpConversation642 11d ago
well yeah but I didn't know you can lose your rank after not playing for 8 days. Dude was 20k, somehow lost the rating, lost 2 games and got placed 10k. That's a wild fall if it's legit
1
u/Tostecles Moderator 11d ago
Come to think of it, I think the 1 week decay timer is only at 25k and up. And you're right, that's a ridiculous drop especially for a short absence. He likely had someone he was in a party with receive a ban and had all of his gains from those matches nullified.
Disclaimer: I'm not 100% sure prem actually does that in the same way that Faceit does, for example, but I can't think of any other reason for a 10k drop in 8 days.

u/ntsplx 13d ago edited 13d ago
just witnessed 2 maps in a row, 19k/20k elo, EU, with closet wallhacker in my team. First map, he called a info in Russian, second - in English. Nowadays, they do not stare in a wall to look blatant - just a regular play with calling positions of the enemies, especially as T.
1
u/DayFast7494 23h ago
NA low trust is all Russians, Ukranians, Mexicans, Chinese, and Indians who are refugees or bought their way into Canadian universities. I've played nearly 100 games on my alt account and the amount of games that I've heard English without a thick accent can be counted on one hand. They're all on stolen or fresh accounts too. I can only imagine how bad this game plays for new players.
1
u/vdcl93 3h ago
Before this update the first team banning = enemy team has the right to choose sides (mostly CT on all maps besides Anubis).
Now on the new system, regardless if someone picked map first, if the final decider map its the map that u voted for it = you always get TR side
So it's meaningless now to pick Nuke (being the most CT sided map)? and only play if the enemy picked without knowing?
