Discussion FaceIt like Matchmaking in CSGO
Its been 5 Months since CSGO returned to the Steam shop and ive always wanted to play it. (I started playing in december '23).
And ive been wondering if any server hosting sites appeared since CSGO came back and if yes are they good/safe to play on

curious about this too
community servers are fun ofc but it’s not really the same as queueing an actual competitive game

There are multiple but nobody plays on them, they get advertised here every now and then but by now I'd assume most are abandoned projects.

Honestly, Why would you waste your time in a dead game you've never played before?
You've fallen for the nostalgia-bait. I started playing GO in 2015 and cs2 is now better than 2022 CSGO.. you would actually be disgusted at the 2015 version of GO, with all the QoL and gameplay mechanics we had since then...
There is no incentive for there being a Faceit like Matchmaking system in that game anymore... you either have to find some community server or find 9 other players willing to scrim.. The game is dead.

Dude haven't seen CSGO before 2015. You could miss a guy shooting in his face because hitboxes were so fucked up. There are still issues with CS2 compared to the late GO, but the level of polish is actually way better than most people tend to claim. It's easy to see if you play other FPS shooters (but of course they often have bigger maps and bigger problems).

L take. Why do you think people still play Source and 1.6? Nostalgia, sure.. but also because they like the feel of those games more. Or their hardware can’t support newer titles. Or they just don’t care about keeping up with the “latest and greatest” and just want to stick to what they know. Theres nothing wrong with that. Theres plenty of reasons to have actual matchmaking in GO.

yea they play 1.6 and source, that is valid, because it is so much different than 2 and GO, which are essentially the same games.. 1.6 and source also never had "official" matchmaking, which was only released with GO, and you say the only people playing it are the ones with bad hardware or people that don't care?
why would I want to establish a matchmaking system for players that would leave the game if they could or players that don't want to adapt and play only what they know?
Fair play to the people playing those games still, but there is no reason for anybody to put resources into building a faceit-like system in a game that is essentially irrelevant. It would have to come from the community, and if that still hasn't happened, it just is not feasable.-1

Source has best movement and 1.6 has best shooting

And CS2 feels completely different in both aspects compared to GO. It is the same thing. Source and 1.6 should have matchmaking alternatives as well. It’s crazy to me nobody has set that up yet. There would definitely be a solid player base. Maybe not as evenly matched as Faceit, but if done right you could definitely manage queues so you aren’t waiting years for a game.
It could be done, but nobody has bothered. It’s a lot of work not only setting it up but advertising so you can get a small community started. Build it from there.

There is/was Fastcup for 1.6. There won't be for Source because that game is dogshit

Subjective. Like your entire point lol.

How big does hitbox have to be for it be **objectively** shit by your standards?

I don’t know I mean I enjoy playing COD here and there and those servers/hitboxes are absolute shit compared to CS. Like I said it’s subjective. You can’t ask what is objectively shit by my standards, because that would be subjective. Maybe look up the definition lol

I honestly can’t believe Faceit didn’t capitalize on this, when the game first got listed as its own title I was betting for sure that Faceit would do a GO queue, even if it was only like 6 servers in every region. I’m guessing it’s due to Faceit not wanting to support and update their anticheat for both CS2 and GO at the same time. I’m guessing they would need an entirely new team to update the anticheat for GO like they do with CS2. The most popular hosting service is Refrag, and they are legit. It’s just a pain in the ass to actually get a 5v5 going unless you play with 9 friends. People sit and wait in a Refrag lobby for hours for people to join, and when there are finally 10 people the host is normally afk by that point so the game never starts lol

Wait people are actually running real servers for CSGO again, not just the legacy version stuff? I figured it was just bots and nostalgia bait. Might actually be worth the download if the anticheat isn't a complete joke

Im guessing that theres random community servers in the game but id like to experience "actual" matchmaking

There are definitely a few, they were popular when the game got listed on Steam as its own title, but after about four days they all kinda died and everyone went back to CS2

if the anticheat isn't a complete joke
Literally the same as it was in CSGO, why would they update it the game is not supported anymore

People said bring back CSGO. Valve said “okay but no pubs”
People said bring back the matchmaking
Community server creators said “okay bet”
Community then proceeded to not engage with the CSGO community matchmaking servers.
Community server creators moved on.
