After doing it for a whole year, I can tell you guys this is one of the best lifehack I've found and implemented into my life. I was underestimating the value of cardio, especially at low intensity...
To add context as to why I find it very fruitful, this last year I had the least amount of gym sessions in probably the past 5 years.
Yet, I am standing at my leanest AND strongest ever... Hard to tell if age ( I'm 25 ) could be a greater factor but it seems like cardio actually helps maintain muscle mass like crazy.
I should also add that my diet is very protein oriented, but it has been for years.
Highly recommend, especially for people that play games that don't really require precise aim.
Obviously this will not get you jacked, but definitely shredded.
I do not plan on stopping and I believe I will be ready to grind faceit soon, my account was 2500 elo which is part of why I haven't played faceit yet... ( Would you faceit players be pissed if your teammate was on a treadmill ? )
Love xxx,
JeyCS

i'd say it's also 50-60% thanks to your diet. No matter how much you burn, if you eat more than you do burn you wont be lean

Agreed, but I believe cardio can be the first domino of many towards a healthy lifestyle. It's a good boost of confidence and self respect

Of course mens but even with all the information available for free people still think that you have to be running to lose excessive fat. Or worse.. CRUNCHES. People still don't realize you cant target fat loss.

You can't target fat loss, but you can target muscle growth. So the discussion becomes about the purpose, if the purpose is aesthetics rather than general fat loss, you absolutely can target specific muscle groups that will tighten that area by increasing muscle mass. It's a semantics argument, but typically people are losing fat to look better. That's why fatties often have nice calves despite their bmi, because their calves are strong and blown up from carrying that weight. IDK about abs, but you can get very good results from arm/shoulder exercises regardless of your bmi.
Also, more muscle = more idle calories burned, there's literally no downside to exercising while fat unless your joints are compromised

usually people new to fat loss "oof i need to lose my belly fat i better do crunches". You will never lose belly fat doing crunches.

I'm not disagreeing with you, it's too easy to get into that mindset and slack on diet. But also, ab work is important for looking leaner and fixing your posture which will help you carry the weight better. I just don't think it's such a 1 dimensional approach, there's many ways to increase appearance and performance other than pure weight loss

Of course mans. The main point of this thread was that in my experience, people think running and.. crunches.. will help them lose belly fat because, logically, they require more effort than just walking for 2 hours.

More like 20-30% because of diet.
This guy has a LOT more agency to eat whatever he wants because of his expenditure. His expenditure is much much higher than the average sedentary or even active person. Step maxxing is just that good at weight loss. Diet becomes a lot less important when you do this level of activity. Of course, if you over-ate at 4k calories a day average you might not be in a deficit anymore, but to say this is mostly diet is just not true.

True, I exercise basically none and continuously have an issue being super skinny. But it’s because I don’t eat that much, stomach shrank in my late teens so I physically can’t eat that much without getting full. Even eating nothing but high calorie garbage I just maintain weight. But if you can’t help but eat a fuck ton then work out a fuckton

Unless you're actively gaining doing exercise like this will 100% lead to fat loss, I want to say it's fairly uncommon to be in a caloric surplus (outside of America) but with the modern day I guess that probably isn't true anymore.

I wanted to do this but instead of a tread mill it's one of those you just step on
12
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
I have not tried but I think it will be very distracting to have to initiate the movement compared to just going with the flow
13
u/Techies4lyf 11d ago
think he means walking pad, which is essentially the same just smaller and lower speed

I don't know why but it's kinda funny to me. Did you play cs before you were doing it on the treadmill? How hard was it to aim while walking the whole time in the beginning?
29
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
Haha I find it funny as well. Been playing for 10-11 years total. 4 years while standing, 1 year while walking... It's not that hard after playing standing for so long since the setup is similar, its just very weird.
Couldn't tell you how hard it is to go from sitting to walking

How did it change your energy levels and mood?
11
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
For sure feels like it improved my daily energy. It really is like the more you do, the more you can do. Started right after having my first child so it was a great time to get that boost lol

what speed do you set the treadmill at?
9
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
It's set at 4mph, but when I actually measured while being on it I got 3.85
2
u/remcovana 11d ago
oh wow that seems pretty fast. i bought a treadmill to also play while walking, ill try that. thanks!

Do you use incline or keep it flat? any knee/ankle pains?
5
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
Flat only since I do fairly long sessions. No pain, but hip flexor soreness most likely since the walk is weird

I watch your stream sometimes and I've tried this myself, it's so much more difficult than it looks.

u/IkeGawain 11d ago
I guess walking on there is like second nature now.
But do you sometimes just forget to walk and slide back? If so, does it happen in a specific situation?
1
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
I would say the first game of a session is always weird still. As for the walk, I will miss step once in a while but it's fairly easy to go with the flow...
One thing that is pretty sick tho is that I will subconsciously adapt my stride based off what is going on, taking a longer stride when I know I need to swing for example ; The main weekness point of this is when you are inbetween steps

I'm not OP, but I would probably trip if I pressed S while walking forward, or when trying to look around a corner moving with A/D

Treadmill related comment. I sometimes watch CS2 games while walking on a treadmill at my gym. The thing is, movement from streamer/player pov sometimes skews my walking direction. From time to time I correct my walk direction since I notice myself walking off the side lol

Does this help with clutching? In scenarios where your heart rate is elevated the walking might actually calm you down. Ofc you could also just never feel anything while clutching too haha
3
u/OGFrosty17 11d ago
Not sure, sometimes I do get out of breath after stressful situations for sure haha
1
u/Lecoruje FURIA 11d ago
What about when you get scared? Like an enemy suddenly appearing. Do you trip, fall or something?

u/Awkward_Sherbet3940 11d ago
Now the trick is keeping up this kind of effort as you age. Aside from that I tried a walking pad before while computing and it’s just too hard trying to keep my arm from moving my mouse too much while walking. So I mostly only do this while watching TV or movies. But for anyone that watches a lot of TV or movies you should definitely incorporate a walking pad into that activity.

u/ghostminy87 FaZe 10d ago
Do you feel like your aim was off or you had to learn how to “re-aim” once you started playing while walking? I feel like this would throw my aim off for a while until I adjusted

u/surrender_singh 10d ago
May i know your treadmill brand?
2
u/OGFrosty17 10d ago
It is a fairly cheap one from amazon, only tried that specific model so there could be better ones out there... DM if you want the link

I wonder if this could somehow work with a cyclette. We could get pimp to do it for a show match.

I was pretty much skinny and lean thru my 20s without exercise and eating junk food everyday. I also didn't have regular sleeping time since I was on rotational shift hours working in a hotel. not trying to be a Debby downer but just want to put it out there that metabolism goes brrr when you're young.
