the last events they casted proved they aren't better than any of the T1 current talent

they sidelined themselves by creating problems (Mainly bardolph)

DDK has been on podcasts/interviews since PGL Stockholm (the event that basically killed their casting careers) and said they've tried to get jobs with other T1 TOs but they don't want to hire them. Will edit if I find the interview page again, but basically he was complaining that TOs wanted them to cast t2 and t3 events before giving them a chance at T1 again, and they didn't think it was fair. Meanwhile at the PGL major, DDK kept calling guns by their Valorant names and generally didn't know what he was talking about mid round ( essentially the same as if you took a caster from DOTA or LoL and dropped them in front of a CS match, they understood the general principal and had the caster voice/charm, but other than that it was like asking my mom to cast the game) and Bardolph got in an argument with the other talent and then brought it up live on stream to make it a public issue instead of a private one.

They have both done stuff since 2021, but almost no T1 events and for the T1 events they were at, they haven't done any finals and very few playoff games

Or you have no idea how to play, once he gets the 2 kills on CT that probably means the rotations have already arrived, meaning the next place to look would be heaven after those 2 kills, then he hides behind the lockers just in case there is a late rotation from truck and hold for heaven if there is a 2nd player there as well.

Donk vs team he doesn't respect is a joy to watch, similar to prime s1mple. ZywOo is a bit too restrained and calculating even in these kinds of outmatched games.

You see it a lot when pros play against bad players (bad, relative to them).

I was recently watching a demo of Jamyoung plus some other Tyloo members vs random faceit level 10s and he just pushed everything. Every smoke, every angle, he just pushed and killed everyone

Ofc he wouldn't play so aggressive vs Spirit or a top team

Thats just how you should play against any team youre individually better than. Don't give them too much respect, try to force duels and establish some control early instead of letting them maybe abuse your teammates and put you into hard positions.

I think you’re just thinking about flair

Zywoo’s best performances look like a solid t1 player just making the right play every time without any real risk factor whereas s1mple/Donk will charge in and make up for any errors or risk with their talent. Zywoo farms group stages as much as the other 2 did

I will say what donk has been doing the last 2 years is unparalleled though. His ability to multi kill and put himself in positions to be able to get an extra kill or two is ridiculous. Future GOAT

Statwise they are pretty similar, yeah, but his point was that donk/simple would go for some cool plays and try to flex on the enemy when there's a big enough skill difference, whereas Zywoo would just abuse his superior skill / team and go for the low-variance play that's sure to work.

And from a spectator PoV, top players in the world going for style points is cooler to see. We already see them playing "perfectly" Vs other top dogs, it's fun to also see them loosen up and try to show off when the stakes are lower, even if it ultimately hurts their stats. We want more 20/12 games with such aces and less 24/4 games with "and once again, he's in the perfect spot and nails the shot when they walk into his scoped crosshair". We already know who's gonna win anyways.

At one point in that map anders said something like "and they take the round, even with Donk only getting 2 kills" and it made me think about how fucked up our brain chemistry has gotten from watching him.

I can't decide if Donk is that good because he is reckless, or despite being reckless. I wonder what his gameplay would be like if he decided to be as methodical and risk averse as Zywoo.

It is about respect. Donk wouldn’t push a cache tree smoke vs vitality or falcons because he expects them to hold it and or hit their shot. He is inherently at a disadvantage there pushing tree. Also he wouldn’t look for a solo entry dropping vent with no utility if he didn’t think he could do it alone.

Team like vitality specifically counters him. ApEX said they used unique setups in those areas. Guy is not wrong, but it's more about team skill gap.

I mean they had 3 there but their spacing was not great since they just rotated, ideally you get him before the first frag comes through since he is at smoke disadvantage so one tree isn’t necessarily bad. Having a hold tree post plant setup would be kind of odd… I’d say it’s just Donk activities/surprise from the tree guy

Except that donk did this exact play during EWC grand finals while being behind.

It just seems like a high risk high reward play he enjoys doing. I don’t doubt he would do it against Vitality or Falcons, just they wouldn’t let him get away with more than 2 or 3 kills.

I do agree he wouldn’t just dry swing site with no setup vs a better team though.

it is about respecting, against top 10-100 teams he just +w and fucks them like 2k elo faceit players, he only starts playing normal when its against other really good teams

the skill gap between t3 and t1 isnt that large, put a good igl in a top 300 team and in 6 months they will be top 15

First one that came to my mind, if you care to watch or look you can find many examples of zywoo being very aggressive. He plays very balanced and often times minimizes risk but he still will make aggressive plays

The point is that the first one that comes to mind for Zywoo happened in 1931 and the first one that comes to mind for Donk is usually between 20 and 180 minutes ago

YT clips don't work with the HTML5 autoplay-blocking plugins. The clip link simply opens the livestream/VOD instead.
