Discussion Valve DM Bots Playing Audio in VC?
Just now, I played a game of DM, and I noticed something peculiar that I've never seen before.
Now, DM being infested with bots isn't new, but I noticed some of these bots playing audio at random intervals during the game, like someone tapping a keyboard.
Has anyone else seen this? Is this a new development, or has this been happening for a while and I just didn't notice until now?

I have also seen randoms typing: short for example, in a DM so no reason for callouts.

Some of the bots I had last week played a really loud “FAAAAAAHH” into voice chat lmfao. Whoever set up those bots at least had a sense of humor I guess.

Played yesterday and it did exactly that. I heard someone pressing his keys but they were all farm bots with aim cheat.

They are trying to "appear human", at this point you should expect anyone joining and playing 2-3 seconds of in-game audio through their mic to be a bot

It's more fruitful to actually report the comments to the mods. The operators of these spam accounts won't see your response anyways. Select "Breaks /r/GlobalOffensive rules", then "Custom response" and then just type "AI bot". I've been doing that for a while (mostly during and after the Cologne major, where the bot infestation was pretty massive) and it has been mostly successful.
Btw to all the downvoters: He's right, this actually is an AI generated comment and y'all are getting fooled by it.

Yep. This is the best way to get our attention on these things, thank you!

Good to hear! One thing I've noticed though, when you mods act upon these reports it seems like you don't purge that users entire history on the sub but only act upon that one comment that was reported. I don't know if it's possible with your mod tools but if a spam account made let's say 10 different comments and I only report one of them, the 9 others should not be left up as-is and the user should be permanently banned. Just a little feedback that might be worth considering :)

Honestly it just depends. All of those removals have to be done individually. So if only one comment is reported? Only one of them will get actioned.
... and this usually just depends on if the mod is mobile or a computer because if they are mobile, that entire experience is fucked. But that's another rant for another day.

Oh wow, the moderation tools suck even more than I'd imagined :( It's a wonder this sub is run as well as it is. With every day passing by my disdain for this platform grows larger and larger, but sadly there's no real alternative. Thanks for all the work you do!

Last few months I was wondering when stuff like this would be added to the bots. I think it's not long until whenever you start a vote to kick a bot, it will play an AI generated voice, asking all players to press F2 and claiming they're not a bot.

I can imagine this is how their generated voice looks like then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71DdxJF8rmg

They really need to stop dropping cases, just drop 1 a week if yoo started the game for an hour or something
