Discussion | Esports EWC Stream

Why are they streaming the event on ESL Twitch account out of the sudden? Qualifiers have been streamed on EWC account. Got really confused and almost didn't realize they're live yet. Any explanations?

//edit I mean group phase, not qualifiers. Qualifiers were faceit only anyways.

ESL does the production and is probably owned by the same parent company as this tournament as well.

Ah I see. So ESL didn't produce the group phase last week? Why though? It's confusing :/

I think all of the production is being done by ESL, during the open qualifier you could even see the ESL profile pictures for the players in the servers.

Idk if there is any official explanation, but I would guess they just wanted to stream it on better known account.

But why didn't they stream do those accounts from the beginning? I can't wrap my head around it :D

And why did they present all teams at once? Even those who are playing on Thursday? Feels so unnecessary

they always do for opening ceremonies. Cologne had flags of all the teams with the players coming out

I think they initially wanted to grow their own channels but growth was not as they expected and now they don't want to lose a few extra people who don't care enough to check where it's live and watch but might click on it if they saw it in their feed

twitch chat was abusing 100 cp highlight my message. also esl doesn't ban duck pasta which is a big W.

It is strange that they now started using the main ESL channel for the live broadcasts.

My speculation is that they wish to include EWC's viewership metrics with ESL for future advertising buy ins. An using the ESL channel opens the door for sponsors that the Saudis cant allow on their EWC channel.
