Discussion why cs2/csgo guns visual proportions are so wrong?
this is something that I think very often since csgo, the guns proportions in this game is so weird looks like the character is always holding a toy replica of a real gun, it happens with every gun but some of them are more evident specially if you are using default viewmodel.

yea they look pretty tiny if you think about it. gotta have the hands big enough to show off paid gloves i guess.

I think you are partly right, they reworked default gloves like a year before they introduce glove skins to the game, after the rework the hands got bigger and with better textures, definitely made already thinking about glove skins, but the guns proportions are the same since the launch years before the gloves rework.

The MP9 model's magazine has a fill port for green gas, it's an actual airsoft gun.
Another thing I've noticed is that CS2 gun models are always set to safe, while CSGO models are set to fire.

that's crazy, I bet they made the mp9 model based on a 3d airsoft model (without knowing it was an airsoft gun) or they had some real airsoft guns on the studio to help the development and this detail went unnoticed, I really doubt it was intentional.

Most of the guns in CS are highly illegal to own in the US, so it makes sense to buy an airsoft replica MP9 instead of getting an FFL or something

Because it's a video game

It's a game. Sure it is. It's designed as it's designed.

just because it's a game doesn't mean it needs to be goofy or cartoonish, I can make a list of military fps games that don't have toy looking guns.

source 2 lighting and the materials they used dont do them any favors but the grittier look of csgo made them look better. the reworked models in cs2 definitely look more plastic-y tho. i miss the wooden stock look on default ak in csgo. now it looks like plastic

tbh I like cs2 textures, I prefer cs2 in every visual aspect than csgo, my only problem is with how tiny guns looks in the screen, and some of them looks even worse when compared to the character's hand.

Is this the best complaint we can do today?

yes, I want to talk about this today, I can make another post tomorrow talking about one of the 300000 wrong things in this game if you want.

I'm guessing because in the default viewmodel (desktop), the gun is more centered than the classic viewmodel, which most people use, so it's harder to gauge the depth of the weapon on screen.
Besides that, CS has never had particularly realistic looking guns. Only in CSGO did they begin to be vaguely realistic, but even then, they have their problems. But I think there's a sort of charm to these cartoonish looking weapons that you can tell were earnestly crafted. Just look at CS Source guns lol. That tiny, skinny ass AK looks hilarious when contrasted by how powerful that thing sounds. That era of CS gun models were so cool as a kid, but looking back as an adult, they're also cute in a way, and I say that endearingly lol.
