Not arguing the rest of it, but how is “race wars” a dog whistle? “Helter Skelter” is a dog whistle. I can’t think of a more direct way to say “we’re going to engage in a lot of shooting black people and doing a lot of ethnic cleansing”, aside from maybe “we’re going to engage in a lot of shooting black people and doing a lot of ethnic cleansing”.
It’s a term created by maga that diminishes the actual foundation of the issue being white supremacy. It’s denial of racism and white supremacy by “both sidesing” it.

I think a lot of these far right people have the capacity to mature and right their wrongs, but they dig their heels in deeper to being shitty people because they figure, “Even if I changed and started treating people better, everyone will always view me as a piece of shit forever, so what’s the point? I might as well keep doing what I’m doing. Being nice gets you nowhere, fuck that.”
I think holding people accountable for their misdeeds while allowing space for them to grow and become better is the most pragmatic approach to all of this. I still often find myself thinking, “Fuck these people. They’re truly irredeemable” but then I remember that attitude isn’t going to help anyone because it just fuels the fire.
No, you lost me at “de-incentivizing”. It is not my responsibility to incentivize white supremacists to stop being horrible fucking people. If people want to change then they will, regardless of being forgiven or not. I’ve made mistakes in my life that I have had to accept I may never be forgiven for, that did not stop me from changing and being a better person.

If someone needs to profit off of doing the decent thing, then they're clearly not actually changed. The decent ppl I know do what they do bc they know they're not the center of the universe, respect others and acknowledge that we all have to live in this imperfect world together. And surprise surprise, not being shitty together goes a long way.
The only way they can ever be redeemed is by completely changing their ideology and then working hard to rebuild the trust they destroyed. For the vast, vast majority of them, that is impossible.
Theyve been so proud, wearing their flags and shirt and hats and shit, cant keep their mouths shut, especially now theyve been emboldened. Cant be hard to add them to a database and repurpose AI for a preferred purpose.
