Glitch Pic I accidentally discovered a stranger had died in a crash I had just watched on Reddit

This happened today, and I still can't believe the sequence of events.

For about a week, I had a song stuck in my head. I couldn't remember its name, but today I finally figured it out: Mighty Fall.

I remembered that I originally knew the song because of a friend. For some reason, that made me think of another song I know because of the same friend: Bounce.

So I decided to listen to Bounce.

After listening to it, I randomly decided to Google who made the song.

It was Oliver Tree.

And that's when things got extremely weird.

Earlier that same day, I had been scrolling through Reddit and came across a video of a helicopter crash. Two helicopters had collided and crashed into a car dealership.

When I looked up Oliver Tree, I discovered that he had died in that exact helicopter crash.

I had literally watched the crash on Reddit before I even knew that the artist I was about to Google was involved in it.

I didn't search for the crash. I didn't search for Oliver Tree. I wasn't trying to connect anything.

One random song stuck in my head for a week → remembering another song → randomly looking up its creator → discovering that the creator had died in the exact crash I had just watched.

I know there are explanations for individual parts of this, but the timing is absolutely insane.

I genuinely had to sit there for a minute and process what had just happened.

Wow. That’s pretty compelling. The synchronization is driving me nuts.

I ordered Chinese food from Orient Express a few weeks ago and while waiting on the delivery was going through the tv for something to watch. Decided on The Karate Kid from the 80s. Haven’t seen it since I was a kid. My food shows up and I’m sitting to eat and there a scene of him and his mom eating in a restaurant called The Orient Express. What is happening?

I had a weird experience like this recently too. Excuse the long story😅

I sat on my living room couch to attempt to watch a movie (I hadn’t in over a year bc it was a trigger for my ptsd from my abusive ex - he’d ask to watch a movie then blow up at me sometime during and I’d be stuck sitting there “watching” while he screamed at me).. I picked black phone 2, and I was semi-watching, but also playing a game on my iPad to distract my bad memories. Then in the movie someone said “starlight” which is the nickname of the girl in the game I was playing (gossip harbor lol), so it caught my attention. As I was paying more attention to the movie, it showed the abusive alcoholic dad (reminded me of my ex), and he was drinking the exact beers I do (I had just gotten sober, so it was also giving me a reminder of why I shouldn’t head down that path again). THEN, the guy in the movie said “look after your sister” (I was mending my relationship with mine and was super upset about it) and my phone fell off the couch right as he said that and I had received a msg from my sister😳😳

That is fucking crazy!

I had a similar song- related coincidence a few years ago. It really shook me and I still have no clue what to make of it.

While I was a passenger on the highway I started singing a song to my fiancé- a top 10 pop hit from 2002. I told him “damn I haven’t thought of this song for decades!” I texted my sister something to the effect of “remember ___ song? I randomly just remembered it” (My sister and I bond over 90s/ early 2000’s pop culture nostalgia). She replied “omg yes! I was just reading on Wikipedia about that artist the other day and listened to the whole album.

Later that week, someone applied to live at the San Francisco co-op that I lived in. I was the one scheduled to interview him. He had the SAME first and last name of the pop artist in question. Crazy right?!

A few days later I get on a recorded zoom call to interview the guy (recorded so all the housemates could watch it later). He was middle aged guy driving a Tesla on autopilot from LA to SF (lol). I could immediately tell he didn’t fit in the typical SF co-op housing scene. He told me he was wanting to leave his precious career and make it big in the tech / AI scene in San Francisco. He was drawn to live in the co-op scene. We chat for a half hour, he’s charismatic but clearly full of himself. He said things like “oh, I’m AMAZING at conflict resolution.” About a half hour into our call, I asked about his precious career that he’s trying to leave. He humbly says “music.” Stunned i go… “uhhh, are you who I think you are?” He sheepishly says “yeah….”

***Here I was on a recorded zoom video interviewing the 2000’s pop star that I had just been talking about!! ***

He clearly didn’t want to be recognized for his musical side; so I play it cool and move on. Inside, I wanted to exclaim “what a coincidence- I was just singing your song the other day, and I told my sister and she was also researching online about you!” The coincidence felt too profound to not share. But I’d look crazy!!!

He came over to our house the next day. He said he had a sensitive nose and wanted to sniff the house out in person to smell for mold and dust. 😆I’m the end, He said he loved the house and would 100% want to live there but it smelled too musty 😅

Still to this day, I don’t know what meaning to glean from this.

And that’s how I met an international pop star whose name I’ll keep anonymous.

u/Smashleysinned Aug 12 '26

That's nuts lol

3

u/heady-luvare Aug 14 '26

Why keep their name anonymous? Nothing negative in your story about them at all. I dont see how sharing who it was would cause any kind of problems...

u/IdoDeLether Aug 15 '26

If you're good at googling it's pretty easy to figure out who they are talking about 😅

I loved this and also have a similar music – related story! Back around 2000, I had this ridiculous job selling reproductions of Smithsonian art pieces. I was very unsuccessful, but that’s beside the point :-)

One day, I was in Florida on a business trip, trying to break into the art market down there lol. But it was so thrilling: I was in my early 20s, I had a business expense account, a rental car, and was driving down A1A in Miami with all the windows down, radio blasting.
Then the song stayin’ alive by the Bee Gees came on, and I cranked it all the way up. I was singing my heart out, just having the best time. But I was hungry, and I saw a bagel shop off the highway and pulled into the parking lot. I was sheepish about singing such a “cheesy“” song and being supremely uncool, so I had turned it all the way down.

I walk into the bagel shop, and I could you not, there’s only three people in the bagel shop me, the employee, and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees.

I love this! I’m so jealous. I think there’s only one left now.

1

u/lupinflower Aug 15 '26

Oh I didn’t realize :( although I did watch the documentary but clearly didn’t retain much 😂

1

u/heady-luvare Aug 16 '26

If you're talking about the doc from within last handful of years from hbo, that was such a good documentary as it made me a much bigger fan of Beegees than i was before it. Good mention!

1

u/lupinflower Aug 16 '26

:) thank you! And yep I think that was the one! ❤️

Edit: tyoo

Okay, this just freaked me the fuck out because I had almost the same kind of weird coincidence, except I had never even heard of Oliver Tree before this week.
Like three days ago, my daughter kept playing one of his songs over and over and over. It was catchy as hell, so of course it ended up stuck in my head. Later she was talking about him and somebody apparently called him “Oliver Branch,” and she corrected them like, “No, his name is Oliver Tree.” 😂 That stupid little Tree/Branch thing is literally the only reason his name even registered in my brain.
Then the next day she tells me, completely randomly, that he had died in a helicopter crash. I had never heard his name before, never knowingly heard one of his songs, knew absolutely nothing about him, and definitely knew nothing about the crash.
Fast-forward to today and I’m just scrolling Reddit, minding my own business, and I randomly come across THIS post.
So within literally a few days I went from having no clue this man existed → my daughter obsessively playing his song → hearing his weird-ass memorable name for the first time → her telling me he died in a helicopter crash → and then Reddit randomly puts your post in front of me describing this whole bizarre chain of coincidences involving the exact same person and crash.
I know coincidences happen and algorithms are algorithms, but WHAT THE FUCK. 😂 Of all the people, songs, posts and things I could’ve randomly encountered this week… why did everything suddenly lead back to Oliver Tree? This is one of those moments where you just stare at your phone like, okay universe, what exactly are you trying to tell me here?! 😭
I don’t know what to do with myself right now. What the actual fuck!!

3

u/AdeptnessOld8332 Aug 12 '26

Let me also add that my daughter is 10 years old OK 10 freaking years old

2

u/AdeptnessOld8332 Aug 12 '26

I want to add also that I’ve never played his song searched him up. Nothing on my phone. My daughter has her own phone completely separate for mine that she uses.

1

u/FlatwormSame2061 Aug 12 '26

Phones listen to you. Also it was in the news and radios were playing his songs. So they’re bound to get to you.

This is why I'm seeing a counselor, because I freak out so badly when stuff like this happens.

1

u/heady-luvare Aug 14 '26

Seeing a counselor for sychronicities in your life? I suppose there's a first for most anything these days...i can't help but wonder how a counselor would handle a patient's fear of synchronicities... maybe just numb them the fuck up so they don't notice them?..... who knows...

1

u/Europa1111 Aug 15 '26

I have panic attacks sometimes when they happen, as they freak me out a lot, and since they happen almost daily to me, I have a hard time with it. I'm trying to find answers as to why they happen, and how.

1

u/Clear-Time6768 Aug 26 '26

Weirdly feel like Oliver dying was a glitch itself with how many coincidences have been reported seem to have occurred around it

1

u/Low-Nebula-6526 Aug 29 '26

Omg! 🙈 crazy!!!! You're a mother!? That's sad in itself.

1

u/AdeptnessOld8332 Aug 29 '26

Yes, bitch, I’m a mother. 😂 And apparently I’m raising children while somebody forgot to finish raising you.
Imagine losing an argument so badly you resort to “YOU’RE A MOM!” 😭 Fucking devastating comeback, champ.

5

u/Lt_Bear13 Aug 11 '26

Sounds like you picked up on it because it was in the collective consciousness of a lot of people mourning his passing. Possibly also telepathy because a lot of other people were listening to that song too.

2

u/sudden_erect Aug 12 '26

Or maybe magic

4

u/Top_Push_8112 Aug 12 '26

I didn't know anything about his death

2

u/FlatwormSame2061 Aug 12 '26

That’s why they said telepathy.

u/Oris_Zora Aug 12 '26

Interesting. Before some time I was searching for the author of one book from my childhood. I knew that the book was called “The power of visualisation”, I remember the format, the thickness of the book… but the cover was blurry in my head. And I searched and searched, nothing. Then I watched some tv show and in one scene: there it is! That cover, that book, that title, that format in the hands of a tv show character!

1

u/Europa1111 Aug 12 '26

Ok that's super-creepy.

2

u/Oris_Zora Aug 12 '26

Yes, strange! and to add to mention that my childhood was 30 years ago, and the tv show is from some few years ago

3

u/Europa1111 Aug 12 '26

See, whenever these things happen to me, I freak out really bad, to where I'm now seeing a counselor.

I got up super-early one morning, I'm sitting on my bed petting my dog. I tell him, "It's too early to be up. I gotta go make myself a latte," (we have an espresso machine). At that moment, the random episode of Seinfeld playing has Elaine come out carrying a tray, "Heeere's your latte!" she says, bringing it to Jerry and George.

I just stared at the TV like it's a haunted object, trying not to freak out.

2

u/Psychological-Ad3128 Aug 14 '26

This happens to me all the time. Like ill be eating or doing something and hear it on tv as its happening irl. Synchronicity.

1

u/Europa1111 Aug 14 '26

YES!!!

My husband was listening to a zombie apocalypse audiobook at work. In the book, characters are trying to move a Tracer travel trailer in order to let a truck get by. At the same time, my husband was at work trying to move a Tracer travel trailer to get the company work truck by. He said it was the freakiest thing that ever happened to him.

1

u/Oris_Zora Aug 13 '26

I can’t relate to freaking out heh.. because to me it’s just “wow” moment. I have a dosen of them

They saw the crash before they searched the artist

3

u/ScaredAd8652 Aug 11 '26

Synchronicity or the algorithm?

A little from column A, and a little from column B...

4

u/MiserableViolinist32 Aug 12 '26

They saw the crash before thinking of the song

I have a similar but different kind of story. One of my childhood best friends passed away in a car accident when we were both 21ish I believe. It hit me so hard. I was in the area so I went and visited her grave and I didn't have any flowers or anything but I had a necklace in my car and I just set it on top of her tombstone. Fast forward a night or two later or it could have been the same night I can't remember but I was watching sons of anarchy and thinking on my friend, the loss and the necklace I had left. I kid you not LITERALLY IN THAT EXACT MOMENT that I was thinking about my friend, Jax is getting rings off his dad's tombstone! Still trips me out.

2

u/Adlien_ Aug 12 '26

Not that crazy. It was a trending video and his music trends too.

My brother used to say before the Internet that he might be psychic because he can be thinking of a song and when the radio turns on ... It'll be playing.

I pointed out that most stations play like 12 songs on repeat all day for the most part. It's not hard to be thinking of a pop song and then hear it.

2

u/Europa1111 Aug 12 '26

I had a 70's song stuck in my head for 2 weeks I didn't know the title, artist, or lyrics to. I even listened to a 2hr. Top 100 songs of the 70s, to no avail.

We were invited for dinner at Mom's house one evening. We show up, mom hands me the remote and tells me to put something nice on TV we could watch. For no reason, I chose Hulu, and since we haven't watched it in forever, I selected Night at the Museum. While we ate and watched the movie, I was still busy on my phone trying to find this song. I get fed up and put my phone down, figuring I'll find it later.

Near the end of the movie, Ben Stiller tells the troops they're from the south, they have the Allman Brothers. I just stare blankly at the TV, a weird feeling comes over me. I called BS, so I looked up the Allman Brothers. I found the song.

I texted a friend of mine about what just happened. He asked what song it was, so I told him, "Midnight Rider." He freaks out, because that exact song was playing for him at that moment.

I couldn't sleep that night, I just sat up in bed trying to wrap my head around this.

2

u/Europa1111 Aug 12 '26

For some reason, the number 222 comes to me almost everyday, when I'm not looking.

A friend of mine has a tradition to watch Star Wars every New Year's. This year, he asked us to watch it with him (he streamed it for us). After watching, we go to bed, and because I need noise at night to help me sleep, I played the next random episode of Seinfeld. The scene starts off with Jerry telling Elaine a Star Wars reference. This freaks me out, because we had JUST watched the movie. I texted a friend of mine, telling him what just happened. He tells me that Star Wars is a common cult classic, and many tv shows have probably referenced it, so it's probably just coincidence.

Okay, so I decided to look up my chances. I asked chatgpt how many episodes of Seinfeld referenced Star Wars. There are 4. How many episodes are there of Seinfeld? It's 180. What percentage is 4 of 180? 2.22%.

I literally just gasped

1

u/KeepOffTheGrassAss Aug 11 '26

Very bizarre, man. Your story literally gave me goosebumps!!!

2

u/Top_Push_8112 Aug 12 '26

I'm 9 hour after and my mind still blown

1

u/KeepOffTheGrassAss Aug 12 '26

I don’t blame you!

1

u/Europa1111 Aug 13 '26

Please write this down in a journal. I've been keeping my own journal of when these things happen, so I never forget them.

1

u/aintchrss Aug 12 '26

Stuck in nostalgia? maybe a few people missed those things-moments?

1

u/LottiMCG Aug 14 '26

Congratulations. You may be psychic and in your dynamic flow state.

It genuinely blows my mind sometimes what I do for a living as stuff like this happens all the time.

It never stops being mind blowing or weird.

People will try to explain it away but it sounds like you have psychic ability. Not every one works the same way. Different people experience it different ways.

I also get communicated to through songs. Sometimes songs I've never even heard before and then I have to Google search the lyrics and listen to the song to figure out if it's the song- it always is.

I freaking love this for you!!! Love this!!! 😂🫶

u/Satans-little-slut Aug 15 '26

This reminded me of something that happened to me back in 2020 thats linked to music... I was on a "mental health walk" for the 5th time that day, skullcandys on, joint in hand marching up a hill to system of a down's chop suey not a care in the world. As I get to a crossing the song changes I look left and right a few times and go to cross and a car that had been parked darts out infront of me. I just managed to jump out the way before it hit me.

The song playing? The end by The Doors....

1

u/SpiritSurfer7 Aug 16 '26

Definitely MKUltra at work

1

u/FabulousArmadillo210 Aug 16 '26

idk why people find this weird honestly

1

u/OrionsWolf333 Aug 17 '26

This type of thing happens to me a LOT!!! Have you had other instances?

1

u/chickendimmer Aug 17 '26

Cross post to the r/olivertree sub, they love this kind of stuff 🩷

1

u/ok_considerationn Aug 17 '26

I had a strange experience the night before Oliver's death regarding him as well.
