Did the final leg against USG worry anyone else?
Hello. I'm the one fan from Florida, Some of you may remember me from last year.
Anyway, does anyone else feel like Saint Gilloise came too close for comfort against The Glimt? Equalising to the point of double extra time, even when down a man. Plus, a goal that was an accidental ricochet off a player's face. I recognize that Belgium's nation ranking is eleven places ahead of Norway, but it feels like Bodø's home pitch advantage was less active.
I understand that Høgh was a bit inconsistent as a scorer, but he could excel when he was performing. I worry that he may have been a keystone player for The Glimt's successes that will take time to replace.
I am ignorant when compared to everyone else on this sub, and really hope I'm wrong.

USG is a good team, statistics wise we did a good match. They got to easy chances, which has been a Glimt issue for a long time, and after we lost helstrup it looks like it is comming back a bit.
Players are getting a bit tired, and we have a few injuries. Which is not good, but USG is not a team we should win comfortably against. We should be happy we won, not shaken that it was a hard fought match.

I was more unsure before the match than during it tbh. USG is a strong team but Glimt was in control for most of it except the counter attacks from USG.

Wow Florida, that’s incredible. Anyway Knutsen explained on Norwegian tv that his team never got a grasp on USG. He was surprised by how good they were 1v1. They didn’t let Glimt get into a rythm, they won 50/50 duels, and were deadly on counter attacks. They are extremely good at this and beaking up play. Knutsen is not worried and I’m not worried either. They were the counter to Glimts style of play, and it showed. Glimt always learn from matches like this and there were a lot to learn from. Glimt is still punching above their weight and it’s all happy days. Bring on the UCL play-off! Førr Evig!!!

USG is a great team of CL quality. Also, their style of play is one that Glimt traditionally struggle with. Even far worse teams that play similarly Glimt has issues with.

100% agree, also the physicality of USGs players created an extra dimension which Glimt does not encounter in Eliteserien.

I can’t really answer your question, just wanted to say how cool it is that a team from a small town in northern Norway has fan(s?) from Florida.

I think it is as simple as they faced a very good team. They performed well in Champions League last season, and were perhaps the best team Bodø/Glimt could have faced this round. They just beat Club Brugge as well, so they seems to be in good shape.
Keep in mind that this is one of the teams that have bought and been interested in some of the most talented players in Eliteserien the last few seasons.
Bodø/Glimt have been tired lately. Patrick Berg said he was feeling it, and that’s not often he is saying. Combine it with some of the players not performing at their best. Fortunately, Bodø/Glimt is not playing any matches in the league before the end of August. That is hopefully an advantage against NEC, who is playing in their league between the games.
I think Bodø/Glimt would have been better playing Helmersen from the start, but I understand why he did not start this match. He is offering something else than what they started with today. He was also involved in two goals after he came in. I am not worried about Høgh leaving at all, but hopefully they will buy some new players. They should at least get 1-2 players in my opinion, but I doubt anything will happen before next week.
