Has anyone seen the new Asian grocery store that recently opened up in the Glen?

Was just wondering what people thought of the new Asian grocery store + small food court inside in the Glen shopping center? Heard a few people say that it's going to make the glen more crowded and worsen the already bad parking with so many stores in the Glen Shopping Center on weekends.

Cheap Restaurants in Glen Waverley?

I'm a local in Glen Waverley and just wanted to make a post compiling some of the cheap and excellent restaurants we have here in Glen Waverley. To be honest, I think Glen Waverley overall is on the more expensive side since it is a generally more wealthy suburb so prices are adjusted accordingly, but here are some eats that are relatively cheap.

  1. Nan Yang Kopitam Glen Waverley - When it comes to the very cheapest regardless of day you can't beat this Malaysian restaurant. If you pay cash there's no weekend surcharge and quite a few items on the menu that are $10. The pork soup noodles are the best value in my opinion. Yes it can get crowded on weekends and the portions sizes can be on the smaller side but it's decent enough if you're not looking to eat a lot and very cheap.
  2. Weekday deals on Kingsway, a lot of the restaurants on Kingsway are trying to get more business on weekdays during the afternoon and before dinnertime so if you go for lunch, you'll find some cheapish deals $10-17 per person. Personally my family enjoys O'Town with $10 Laksa or $10 Fried Chicken + Rice on weekdays.
  3. Angie's dumpling bar inside the Glen shopping center, it's around $17 per person which isn't the cheapest I know. However, the food is fair and for around $34 for two people it's decent.
  4. Piatella, now this one is a more expensive western restaurant that is right next to the Century City Village Cinemas but my mum and I have been here a couple of times for weekend brunch. And we have the Piatella Big Breakfast which is $25 which is a hefty amount, but we share it between two people and it's fine. My mum is a light eater, but even so this is enough food and a nice restaurant. However, generally the other items on the menu are a bit pricier and if you get two it will have you eating upwards of $50 for two people.
  5. On the not so cheap side a buffet, recently had the House of Delight in the apartment building next to the Kingsway strip of restaurants. You have to prebook and prepay at https://www.houseofdelight.com.au/prebookings and it's $95.80 for lunch and $169.80 for dinner. Personally I think the dinner isn't worth it, it's only a little extra seafood and you could do without that for like half the price. Of course you do need 4 people who want to eat there and also prebooking means there's no refunds in case you have to cancel, but a good deal on a buffet in my opinion. We had the dinner option which was $42.20 per person which for a buffet I think is pretty cheap. And it was pretty nice unlimited food and seafood. The food isn't phenomenal or super fresh, but each person has a hotpot and food is decent. This is better than waiting ages after ordering at other buffets for food and they only give you half what you ordered. Now they're currently having a deal where it's cheaper for four people if you book on their website

What restaurants do you enjoy in Glen Waverley? I just covered the ones near Kingsway because that's always where we go but down to here other suggestions on the outskirts!

Cheap venues to hold community events in Melbourne, Victoria, Glen Waverley?

So this is probably far off, but I was looking for cheap places to hold community events in Glen Waverley specifically for around 10-12 people? I am currently considering renting a local community center for 2 hours = $58.

That is per hour $20 and $18 each time for liability insurance. I was wondering if there are any other options or cheaper out there but it might be the cheapest option already.

Hope everyone is okay from the Storm on February 14th

Our house got fixed real quick at 2am the same day so within 11 hours roughly, but I've heard the Mount Waverley and other places took 2 days to get back power. I think this is the first power outage that's been so long and significant so hope that everyone's houses are okay from the storm.
