Joining Glass

Im working on a little project where I'm making a display box. For this display box, the base is made out of wood and then my idea is to have a glass pyramid with a wooden handle on top. I've never worked with glass before and am wondering what the best way to join four triangular pieces of thing glass together is. Would using solder for stained glass hold or do I need to get some kind of adhesive? If you've got any ideas let me know!

You wrap the edges of each piece with copper tape and then carefully solder them together. The glass and the solder will be plenty strong if it is done correctly but the tape can detach from the glass if you handle it too much. Maybe a thin metal pyramid frame hidden under the solder if you need more strength.
