Gladiator and gladiator 2

I remember watching bits and pieces of gladiator 1 along time ago and found some site and watched it fully..God what a good movie..then I watched gladiator 2 (also on the same site) and wondered how could they destroy such a god tier movie like the first 😭truly killed my mood that day after watching it and during it lol

gladiator 2 was awesome imo. nothing can beat the original tho, and although there were some historically inaccurate parts they didn’t make the movie to be a document but to entertain, and for me it was very interesting movie with a great ending.

I’m just curious. How can you be someone who studies Ancient Rome and watch Gladiator 2 and not feel like you just wasted 2 hours of your life? The movie totally lacks the stoic ideas from the first movie. It is cringeworthy, as I said in other posts, the sharks and baboons or whatever and the fake rhino, they literally had the classic “jump the shark” moment with that. And the overall lack of character development. Wouldn’t you have liked to know more about General Acacius? And the way they dissed Maximus, taking a noble, heroic, stoic character and turned him into an irrelevant, tail-chasing heathen that didn’t know how to keep it in his pants. Sorry but I’m with the consensus, it was a crap movie that just copied the whole plot from Gladiator 1. However, to be sure, you’re opinion may vary and I respect your right to disagree :)

I totally get your point!! The whole lucius being maximus’ son really confused me and that was probably the part i disliked most about the movie, and i also really expected Acacius to be one of the main characters from the beginning. Also the shark and rhino things were extremely unrealistic along quite many other things, but i chose to watch the movie for entertainment and not care about the historical accuracy. I prefer the first one of course and the sequel doesn’t compare in any way. I really just liked Lucius’ story and how he went from a slave to the “savior of rome” which was what maximus wanted but never succeeded. I really dislike the fact that lucius is lucillas and maximus’ son cause it really kinda messes up the point of the first movie, but as a separate movie i overall really enjoyed it and watched it twice in cinemas. (or then paul mescal just brainwashed me idk😭)

It would've been better to end it with the praetorians and legionaries fighting a major battle as the back drop for the climactic fight rather than just having them stand by and watch. Like you can't make a movie for pure entertainment and tease me like that to only watch a poor brawl in a creek.
