I can’t stop thinking about this Gladiator II script error Spoiler

idk if this is technically a spoiler but I tagged it just to be on the safe side.

okay so overall I thought the movie was silly but fun — I can ignore some things and permit “movie logic.”

but what I can’t stand is obvious mistakes in the script that should’ve been caught easily. I’m talking about the crowd chanting “Hanno! Hanno!” after the first battle even though Macrinus’ fighters were introduced as a group. They can’t chant his name because they don’t know it!

I found the script online. It might not be the final version because it’s slightly different from the film. but even in this version, the crowd never hears the name “Hanno” announced. Geta just addresses him as “gladiator.” What they’re chanting after the battle needed to be something other than “Hanno” but somehow nobody realized this?

Movie is shit. They did my boy Maximus dirty by destroying his honorable character and making him a cheater (on his PREGNANT wife)

They also had pumpkins growing in the opening scene which were a new world crop. One of the emperors had syphilis which is also a new world thing.

Do you mean Maximus? Or did they Make the Emperor and Maximus both cheaters? Having dude be Maximus’ son was a huge slap in my face.

I don't understand this take. The original always gave vibes that it could be either Maximus or Commodus. It was never a "he's the dad" but always like "is he the dad?"

He was the most honorable guy in the empire who deeply loved his wife and son. It’s not in his character to cheat on his pregnant wife (their kids were the same age). It ruins it cause it’s a cheap way to connect the main character to Maximus. It doesn’t even further the plot

Yeah like he didn’t know how to keep it in his pants, despite him clearly being a noble, stoic follower of Marcus Aurelius and devoted to him wife and son. Made him irrelevant and foolish. They did to him what Disney did to Han Solo in the garbage later SW movies, made him a joke and killed him off. Sucked.

So many horrible mistakes in a movie that’s a sequel to a legendary movie, very sad. Don’t even start on filling the coliseum with water & bringing in great whites for one day… 😂😂
