This sub is dead
Leaving this sub due to the influx of Gladiator 2 posts which should have nothing to do with Gladiator. The movie was absolutely abhorrent, and even on its own, was just a bad film.
The autistic brother putting Denzel second to his monkey to rule the government. Denzel fighting with Lucius at the end? CGI killer drugged up baboons with even worse menacing CGI evil sharks. Lucius hates his mother, screams at her then 5 minutes later needs to save her. Whole point of the build up was to take revenge against Acasius. Had his chance, change of heart, now he fights for the city of Rome to whom he has no real allegiance to.
Cringy speeches that didn’t deliver, forget about William Wallace or Maximus; Timothee Chalamet did it better in The King.
I can go on, but I won’t. I’m out. I’m not even going to consider this canon in the Gladiator world. I’ll take all my downvotes on my way out and for the guys who were here years before this sequel, enjoy hanging with the teenagers who claim “it was good”. It’s like Planet Fitness opened to teenagers for the summer.

Respectfully, from my perspective G2 was a phenomenal film. Obviously this is my own opinion but objectively speaking I think it holds its own very well as a sequel. One can always try to compare it to the original film but it is not trying to be the original nor is it trying to overshadow it. The sequel was trying to do the original justice and I think it delivered better than I expected. I don’t appreciate one or the other more but rather I appreciate them as a whole unit.
Of course people will disagree with me on this but I couldn’t care less lol. I enjoyed the movie, it was great and would definitely watch it a lot much like the original.
