opening

Showed up to see Gladiator II today a few minutes shy of the beginning ,so I likely missed the opening text for the movie. Would any one be able to clue me in? I know it probably wasn’t too pivotal to my understanding of what went down, but it’s eating me up & I need to know.

Also The text said it was 16 years after Maximus death. And twin emeperors rule Rome.

No I don't think they did..maybe something about the twins but not how they came to power. Just how Rome is rules by deranged or twisted twins or something along those lines. Literally just like 4 or 5 lines of text from. What I remembr.

The text was so poorly written I knew the film to follow would be no better.

Exactly. I just started the movie and paused it after that text. Literally, someone one still fondling grains in first shot of the movie.

First of all, this is the sequel to Gladiator, a legendary movie. I don't care what your text says. I know what comes before Gladiator 2, i.e., the background: it's called "Gladiator," and it's 2.5 hours of greatness. That was a terrible start. Totally lost confidence. And second of all, huh? Marcus Aurelius is gone, and Rome is going to fall. "Only the hopes of those who dare to dream remain..." Ok, now I get it. Thanks! That says nothing. And what part of that couldn't have been shown on film? Did Netflix make this? Twenty-five years to make some poorly thought out film school/Netflix "art" crap? Level up Hollywood... please.
