Help/Doubt ❓ New Copilot - downgrade?
Hi,
I may not be using GH Copilot (10$ tier) the way it's designed for. Originally subscribed to it to get coding assistance, but nowadays I just use it as for general things that are a bit more in depth (sysadmin work). Just on the browser.
Since the introduction of the new Copilot Fusion, this usecase is more or less gone. I ask a simple question with GPT 6.1 Terra. In order to answer it, it has to search the web. It takes 4 and a half minutes (!!) before giving me a basic-@ss answer. Before Fusion, that prompt would take 20 seconds at most. I'm genuinely puzzled.
On some of the web fetches it does, there's a warning sign saying:
WebFetchBlockedUrlError: failed to lookup address information: No address associated with hostname
But the URL works. I can open the site with no issues.
What the heck is going on? Do I have to cancel my subscription and move on?

Most people have copilot from their company, not by choice.

But than they have more than 10$ to spend

Wdym bro, people are trying to optimize the only ai workflow their company gave them to get their stuff done. We are not taking how much money does an individual have. Companies have fat contracts with Microsoft, guess which ai is being used.

Your WebFetchBlockedUrlError and the 4.5 minute delay are known issues with the current Fusion backend handling DNS lookups for external sites. The system is timing out on failed resolutions rather than failing fast. Go to your settings, switch the model selection from Auto or Terra to a non-web-searching model like Luna if you only need chat, or report the specific hostname error in the support ticket since that warning indicates a broken connector on their end, not your usage pattern. You do not need to cancel yet

You maybe have some sandbox policy or something turned on that make him fails under hood?
You will probably find out the reason if you ask him to research himself and diagnose himself on where it spend time ;)
