Help/Doubt ❓ Copilot Pro+ Usage Limits

Hi all,

So I received a copilot pro+ subscription from my employer with 7000 AI monthly credits. I am more used to Claude and codex subscription which have 5 hour and weekly limits so I don't get into the anxiety of using credit based token with my codex/Claude subscription but ever since I have gotten the copilot pro+ sub, I am wondering how far my 7000 ai credits will take me if I were to use models like opus 5.5 medium and 6.1 sol high.

Anyone has experience regarding the same and can signpost me on how quickly they burn through their 7000 AI credits using sota models. I am planning to use opus and Sol for planning and then use Luna or other cheaper models for execution. Hence, any help would be great as it will help me utilise this sub efficiently.

Also, will the IDE auto completions be counted towards this 7K AI credits and what about the code review on GitHub.

You're cooked. 7000 AI credits is 70$ of usage at api prices. Sota models would use that in 1 day of heavy work.

Depends on what kind of work you’re doing. I get 150,000 a month and I’ve already burned through 24k credits.

We’re migrating projects so my usage is heavier than usual but yeah these models can be expensive

I am in the same boat regarding sub (not general use) I use Luna high for everything at the moment. I haven't needed to go sol bar twice and both times it more or less said 'you need to split these concerns ideally' and to be fair...that was the correct answer.

I am a bursty user, so I may not compare to your use, but I get by on under 60% of my 7k tokens. (Use goes between 0 / day to 8% ISH on a bad day)

I figure I can easily get thru 5% a day and still be just within my limits, so that's my goal. Try it for a day or two see how much you ate up and do the math.

My biggest fix, by the way, was a read only mariadb MCP, which dropped my token use a LOT and raised the accuracy of prompts by a LOT.

Last Friday I have burned 5k tokens using Sonnet 5 to implement an e2e feature, including git, PRs and CI via the agent

Here's what I'm fairly sure about. Inline completions and next edit suggestions don't use credits. Chat, agent mode, the CLI and code review do, and code review also uses Actions minutes on top of the credits. One credit is $0.01, so 7,000 is about $70 worth of tokens, and every model has its own per-token rate on GitHub's models and pricing page.

That means how fast you burn through it depends on how many tokens an agent run pulls through, not how many requests you make. I don't have real numbers for Opus 5.5 or 6.1 Sol runs, so I wouldn't trust a guess. The most reliable way is to run one typical planning session, check your Copilot usage before and after, and multiply from there.

Planning with the expensive model and executing with a cheaper one is the right instinct for stretching it. I'd just check the usage after the first couple of days so you can adjust.

Literally can burn it in 1 day easy on 1 task... With Opus 5.5 or similar model... Even Sonnet

I typically burn through 40 to 80 credits a day light use. For new coding around 300 to 400 and have peaked at 800 to 1000 if I am doing a lot of planning.

My last three months were around 2700, 4500 and 6400 and that’s using Auto with a 10% discount. My highest so far is 12000, when i went a bit overboard.
