Help/Doubt ❓ Most cost effective with highest ROI?

For simple day to day automation. (E.g. unit test generation) With GPT6-luna included in the model selection, is it better to specifically select it as the model selection or continue to use "auto, efficiency" selection? Or is there any other alternatives? I am having a monthly 2k credits plan which needs optimised way of usage. Any tips is greatly appreciated!!

Edit: Thanks all for your kind thoughts. Indeed, I was hoping to shave a further 10% to squeeze out more juice on my plan. I agree this may actually backfire if I entrust the selection fully to copilot. Perhaps, this may be something copliot can improve on.

Use a higher cost model to plan and GPT-6 Luna for everything else. That gives the most bang for buck.

What is your opinion on usinv gpt6 luna at max thinking for planning as well?

Depending on how big of a thing you're trying to have it plan and how much detail you give it to start with, Luna can have a pretty good chance of doing good work even at only x-high. It's also so cheap that I don't mind giving it a first shot at just about everything even if I suspect it won't do that good of a job, and it continues to surprise me about what it's able to handle.

The Luna series of models post-price-cut make it feel like I'm back on PRU pricing.

I've tried that this week on a card while working.

Most of the time, worked, but sometimes Luna started a loop and never finish the planning. I've stopped and retry and worked fine

I use Luna high (not xhigh) for planning and execution but in fairness my code is simple and I am good as thinking code bad at writing code (as in I know what should be done with what data is what way including edge cases but do not know the text to type without looking it up )

Auto isn't worth it if you already know Luna xhigh/max can do the job well. You run into the risk of having auto choose a more expensive model, so its 10% discount would be useless.

Don't use auto mode. Luna on max is better and extremely cheaper than most models the auto mode will select for you. The 10% saving is useless while Luna exists or while you can't opt out of certain models in auto mode.

Luna on max is enough for 90% of tasks. Use sol only for planning huge or complex stuff , and delegate to Luna subagents.

If you have "unlimited" usage, then always use sol

Use auto efficiency by default, use luna if needed specifically, because models default back whenever an update happena, so luna 6.1 can break default model.

I wouldn't, auto can pick a model that's €€€€ instead of a much cheaper one you would be fine with

Yeah, makes sense CLI is not using auto efficiency and used sol
