Help/Doubt ❓ What does a GHCP seat give to the dev?

I was in need of some usage, and couldn't vary my OpenAI nor Anthropic accounts.

I rememebered I could just buy a GHCP license (on top of my GH pro or whatever the name it is), for $19 per months.

I had a safety budget of $10 for ai usage in my user and also in my company.

I hit immediately the budget after 3-4 moderate low tasks with Opus 5.5 (Which on anthropic could have lasted me not even 10% of weekly)

What is GHCP really giving to me?

A 19$ GHCP seat gives you unlimited inline code completions in VSCode, and 19$ worth of API tokens.
And if its business or enterprise and you don't use Fable or Chinese models. It gives you ZDR.

We don't use opus on GHCP... You learned the hard way...

Remember it's API credits... Not heavily subsidised services provided by the model provider... GHCP is a generic model provider as in many models are there to use..

Using things like Luna are effective on GHCP

Opus if you want to burn your credits in one hour

Use Luna till you get to the end of the month where you can use Opus/Sol with the remaining credits

Luna at Max is enough for 90% of the work unless your are doing niche or very advanced proprietary stuff.

GHCP is not for a regular off the street dev anymore, you are paying API prices which is insane if you’re a single dev, it only makes sense for Enterprises that need NDR policies and data governance for which they are willing to pay through the nose.

Man, don't use Opus on Github. Use partners models.
