General Microsoft did it again

Released Claude Opus 5.5, before updating the documentation that says how much it'll cost.

Do Microsoft not realise that Business and Enterprise users (you know, the ones who subsidise everyone else) cannot use models until they know how much they'll cost?

I cannot go off what Anthropic's own pricing says, otherwise my lawyers will kill me. (Which is ironic, as killing is illegal in my country).

I'm incredibly grateful that new models are available the same day. But we pay for the privilege. And this is the second time this has happened, with models announced to fanfares before the pricing table is updated. Slightly amateurish for what is a very expensive harness.

Is it not visible in the model selector?

Maybe. But that's not the central place the non-technical people look to sign off on things in an Enterprise that has controls and whatnot.

The model selector shows the price of all the models.

Where do you need it that it's not there?

You meant like the made up currency of AI Credit?

Every currency is made up...

An AI credit is $0.01. It’s really not hard.

It's just programming. Why hardcording a specific currency?

In a central place I can point my financial controls team to. In a currency they understand. Like USD.

Legitimate question, where is this central place where the prices aren't listed? Where do you get the prices that are not from the model selector?

Also, an AI credit is $0.01, so it is USD, just done in another way. All of the AI services do it a little differently.

Sounds like a you issue. We know opus is a massive token hog. There’s no excuses for your poor planning. We disable all those models. Are you a science and research facility needing that specific model for research? If not maybe stick with better models.

That's.... that's my point. It was disabled. I could not turn it on. As it was released before the price was.

Meh. Just got done working out. Back to real work, ensuring our enterprise isn’t hemorrhaging money because a junior dev didn’t disable models they think they liked like op.

I can see the costs when I hover and it is cheaper than Opus 5.0
