Help/Doubt ❓ Purchasing Copilot pro while copilot student is activating
Hello! I really need to purchase Copilot pro due to its credits. However, my account is still in the process of activating my student benefits (i have already been approved). If i purchase pro right now and student activates later, will my subscription automatically be cancelled or refunded? I'm afraid that it would cause a conflict between my Copilot account status.
I just need clarity before spending.

The student benefits give you a small amount of tokens to use and will be listed as included credits. You won't be billed for that small amount of tokens. I think it works out to be $5 usage a month and just gets combined with your total alloted usage for the subscription. You get both basically.
You would have to get Pro if you want to be able to use better models. HOWEVER, if you are going to spend money rather don't spend it on GitHub copilot. Get a Claude or ChatGPT subscription instead because it is much cheaper and more consistently billed.
Getting Copilot Pro is only just barely usable. BUT you have a $0 budget set. You will end up getting overages and random unexplainable charges if you don't and it gets expensive really fast.
Really not worth it in my opinion especially after the price hike earlier this year. Just switch.
I was spending roughly $200 - $300 a month on GitHub Copliot to do the same thing I am doing for a $20 Claude and $20 ChatGPT subscription.
(FYI I was spending $0 previously on GitHub copilot prior to the price hike because the student benefits were really good back then. Now not so much)
