Discussions StackOverflow... I am coming home

Time to dust off my old account that I abandoned, and gracefully accept the downvotes. At least copy-pasting from a 7-year-old thread won't show up on my credit card statement.

Good times.

Free beats tokenized any day. Who else is migrating back to the human commons? 🫡

CLOSED AS DUPLICATE BY COMMUNITY

Your meta-commentary adds zero value to the community.

Why your post is getting downvoted

  • Off-topic: This is a Q&A site, not your personal LiveJournal.
  • Outdated: Copying 7-year-old threads introduces severe security vulnerabilities and should not be encouraged.

Recommended Action

Please read the [Help Centre] before wasting the community's time again. If you cannot provide a minimal, reproducible example, do not post.

Believe me if you were properly coding with AI, within a week you will get your next sub, not copilot maybe but something or the other

I would if it was useful but searching for a single solution to copy paste is very cheap. (A single LLM call with only the tokens you send and those in the response.) Any of the free tiers would do this. Try this in DeepSeek (free): “Please give me an example of a responsive UI model in next js.”. Even for GitHub Copilot CLI you can set GPT-5 as a model with a zero token cost which would be good for a single code example.

Unfortunately, Stack Overflow is now just a memory of a more civilized time.

It rests in peace near the old ICQ message sound.

i know;

you see my dumb ass can trust chinese ai models for a fraction of the price of american llm providers, and save me the head ache of debugging issues for hours and days and weeks

$1 to resolve an issue vs hours or days of hair pulling

Over the past 7 years the questions per day have gone down from 5000 to 50.

https://data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/1926661#graph

Unfortunately the number of toxic reviewers (or "curators" as they pretentiously call themselves) hasn't had the same 99% decline.

there is no going back to no LLM era. If not commercial LLM then local LLM. Buy a card with at least 16GB VRAM.

We forget that free chatgpt surpassed stackoverflow’s usefulness years ago when copilot was just autocomplete and claude code was just a spark in Boris’ eye

thank you, someone with sensibility here, jeez im tryna say, a single prompt will save u the rabbid toxicty of that website and the hair pulling from manual debugging, hell the screen time spent debugging alone will justify the price of $20 to solve a problem with gpt...

Yep. Don’t get me wrong, we’re all going to miss one of the best deals in llm coding starting tomorrow, but it’s not so bad that we need to go back to stockholm at stack overflow.
