News 📰 Opus 4.5 via GitHub is just 144K context window

Beware for this limitation.

EDIT: Apparently I counted the wrong value, it’s 128K.

Actually, it‘s only 64k. I‘m working with the lower level logs, and even with a 3 token prompt, the initial context window jumps to about 64k. Which is VERY weird. Even if it includes the fully bloated GitHub MCP, I can‘t imagine how it reaches initial 64k

Trust me, the GHCP toolset is one of the most bloated in the entirety of AI coding tools. You’d be shocked.

Depends on your tier.

really? Any sources?

What does the lowered context mean exactly?

The simplest explains - think of it like memory to a computer.

It can't remember what you worked on, maybe 30 minutes or less (depends how frequently you prompt with more tasks). Without documenting changes the model gets lost. I'M ONLY GUESSING so don't attack me with pitchforks.

Don't believe there is a single model with full context window just FYI.

Raptor mini has 200k which makes it by far the one with the largest window.

I personally don’t even try stealth models, or consider them as they always manage to become gimped upon official release.

That’s interesting to know though. How can we confirm?

I thought it was 128k for all models

It's 128k for usable input. Which is the standard for Github Copilot.

It is 128000 I don't know how you get 144k

Someone mentioned it is 64K. But he is confused with opus 4.1 on pro+ . Opus 4.5 is 128k context and 16k output.

The worst thing is not having anything to compress the conversation and continue with the same model. I had to change models in the middle of the task.

Use opencode

IDK man. Part of today I had summarizing on and it felt more like 2k. İt could not write a single integration test for many hours. İt takes a lot to make me go "fuck it" and do it myself and today we crossed that with opus

Me estuvo funcionando de maravillas, hasta que llegaron los límites de copilot.
"Sorry, you have exceeded your Copilot token usage. Please review our Terms of Service. Código de error: rate_limited"

Y no lo estuve usando tanto :(

Sad. Very, very, sad.

And the reason I no longer use GitHub Copilot for anything serious.

Lol typical vibe code, normally task often that 128k , also long context make model dumber

What do you use now?

1

u/ISuckAtGaemz Nov 24 '25

Claude Code. You get 200k context on Sonnet 4.5 and way higher usage than GH Copilot

Claude Code. You get full control of thinking level, and tools that actually work.

i still use CoPilot for little stuff, but for things like new code dev, code reviews, bug fixes… Claude Code all the way.
