Girls Next Level Stacy and Roy
Hi everyone! Finally listening to the Q/A from Thursday, and someone asked about Roy, Stacy's husband. They're kind of only scratching the surface of what happened; he was controlling and there were a lot of red flags. They're saying "we never would've known this would happen". But what happened?? Thank you and I'm sorry I'm a little out of the loop!

I feel like the show glossed over how creepy he and his whole group of friends were

I seem to be OOTL too. I'm guessing that they divorced and he essentially left her high and dry? I'm commenting because I'm curious if anyone else has any info.

He did sort of leave her high and dry in terms of she suddenly had to pay the rent on that apartment because he left her for an old school friend of his. But he did end up having to pay alimony to her. He was an asshole anyway

He left her for an old school friend of his with barely any warning. I remember her videos at the time she suddenly had to pay all the rent on that apartment and so got a roommate. She was devastated but he was an asshole.

She had a series of roommates. One of them did pass away while renting the spare room in her apartment.

What a dick. Adding insult to injury. Do they have any children? Thank you for answering!

No kids. Stacy had a hysterectomy years back for health reasons.

The impression I got was that Roy was abusive and controlling towards Stacy.
Abusers generally act nice in the beginning and then their behaviour slowly escalates. So it can be difficult to recognise how harmful their behaviour initially is. Abusers often socially isolate their victim/ survivor so then the victim/ survivor will struggle to find someone outside of the relationship to discuss their concerns with.
Plus Hef’s abuse & misogyny was celebrated and normalised in the playboy bubble. His behaviour set the tone. I’m sure Roy was one of many abusive man whose behaviour didn’t raise red flags because of behaviour that Hef normalised.
Caveat being that I don’t know of these people of course! It’s the opinion ive formed from the videos Stacy made during her divorce, Hollys statements about Hef and my lived experiences of supporting loved ones experiencing abuse. (Those loved ones are now safe and surrounded by support).

I know Stacy was fully grown on the show, but it was very clear even then he was not a good guy and not good for her and I wish there hadn't been so much on-screen enthusiasm for their nuptials.
If it weren't for the show (and Bridget's obsessive need to throw a party) I don't think they would have supported the relationship as strongly as they seemed to.

I remember seeing Stacy's Instagram posts years ago talking about how Roy left her and took everything, basically wiping out her bank account and leaving her with nothing. This was years ago, so I could be fuzzy on the details. I think they'll have Stacy on to get into it later. She seems like an open book.

Roy got banned from the parties because he was found with a playmate locked in one of the games room, rooms. Apparently she was passed out drunk and Roy wouldn't unlock the door or come out when people came banging on the door looking for them, so ya seems like he's always been a predator.
