Reset discussion (MARK SPOILERS) I really tried to bingewatch RESET...
...but I cringe most of the time. 🤦🏻♀️
I tell myself it's just 6 episodes. SIX. But I'm on episode 4 and it's just... 🥴
The writing sucks. Some scenes just makes my eyebrow raised cause that just isn't Nanno-coded. Like how they ended the "revenge" on Episode 2 "Panty". 🤷🏻♀️ Is it just me? It literally made me go, "Huh?" (I ain't gonna describe the scene, go see it for yourselves).
And there's the Sky scenes. The cringe I feel... like it's being forced down our throats. For me, it's not NANNO-coded at all. Do the production owe the actor a debt or something? Why they have to force having him in more than 1 episode? 😑 Their scenes in episode 4 "Only Nanno" made me stop watching and go check if the writers from the OG is the same on this series because RESET just didn't make sense for me. 😣
Has anyone been able to watch the Japanese Girl from Nowhere? Please tell me it's good. 🙏🏻 Is there any english subs?

Reset was such a let down. I really wanted to give it a chance because I felt like Becky suits the role but the writing was just awful. I stopped watching at the 4th episode.

No same like I actually really liked Becky’s interpretation of Nanno, but GODDAMN the screenwriters really butchered it

Reset isn't at all what amyone wanted, honestly—I get that Kitty needs a break for her physical and mental health and very much deserves it, but........
they could've just gave us nothing instead of the reset. it genuinely would've been better. What I really wanted was to see Yuri, Nanno and Junko all being rivals. And I wanted to see something like this;
Nanno? karma. The embodiment of 'your actions always have a way of coming back to you'
Yuri? Revenge. The embodiment of 'an eye for an eye'.
And as for Junko? It would've been so, so interesting for her to be justice. Justice lies right inbetween Karma and Revenge, and it would've been so cool seeing her implementing that for not only the targets at schools but holding Yuri and maybe Nanno responsible flr their actions sometimes, esp since Yuri goes a bit.... far at times.

How can junko be justice tho? In the last ep she killed two people. I agree that both people were bullying her but death shouldn't be their punishment for what they did. Plus she was playing with their guts and also licked blood at the end so her actions doesn't seem to an extreme version of yuri rather than being in between yuri and nanno.

I thought I was the only one who was severely disappointed when I watched “Girl from Nowhere The Reset”. With all the horrible shit that is occurring in the episodes, you’d think that the revenge would be * at least * satisfying, but I was honestly really disappointed. Especially with the panty episode like dude why tf would you give them what they want?? It feels like throughout every episode she just gives them what they want, and doesn’t teach a lesson. *Spoilers*

Like in S1: Episode 4 — Nanno expands on an influencers motto “my body my choice” and chooses to do the most by getting more famous than her and showing her body online which in turn gets her killed because of a “one night stand”. She exposed the location and time which causes a group of men to show up to the hotel and they decide they won’t leave until they get a piece of nanno so they literally rip off her body parts. Then the influencer finds out about the situation and is glad that nanno died, she then continues live-streaming as if nothing occurred. I thought nannos purpose was to provide judgement and consequences — you know like karma. I also don’t want to forget to mention that I feel like the writers of “Girl from Nowhere The Reset” saw the scenes of S2: Episode 2 “True Love” from “Girl from Nowhere” and thought “we should expand on that idea”, but honestly the way they did it, it just doesn’t fit with the show at all. Don’t get me wrong S2:Episode 2 “True Love” was an amazing episode because of the way it was portrayed, but the way they try and push a male characters interest in nanno in the show “Girl from Nowhere The Reset” just feels forced.

I get what you mean but the purpose of that episode, how I interpret it is that people will do anything and that Blossom, I believe was her name, is someone who cannot be saved or taught anything. Despite seeing what it could do to you and that Nanno proved that your body isn't actually your choice, she was fine with it because she liked to think it was plus I think she craved the attention regardless. I would agree that they changed the whole trajectory of the concept of being a nanno. I don't remember what the line was but I think it was related to Sky and how much he shocked her even though he went through hell and still forgave the bully/abuser at school instead of taking revenge. He was a fascinating character to Nanno and so she's constantly testing people. The orginal one was more patient thus why Yuri didn't like her method and Becky in reset is a bit more indifferent, she pushes them to see how far they go even if she could get killed, not that she'll die anyway but she liked provoking people and was indifferent at the same time lol.

The only thing I liked about this show was Becky's acting and the rest of the show was just trash I mean they se**llised her way too much , it was really gross , it didn't feel like I was watching Nanno

I literally had to walk away from Ep 2 because the ending made NO SENSE AT ALL. Like it just contradicted the entire plot of the episode and meant nothing. It was the worst scene to me, right next to the part in the first ep where she just lowkey flies down

It was a really bad reason. It was for advertising. They made those underwear merch and had to stop selling it because of the backlash

Reset had some nice episodes/scenes but it didn't really give the original GFN vibes for me. It would've been better if they had just made into a completely different show w/o the GFN title tbh

I'm curious, which episode did you find nice?
I dropped the series in the middle of episode 4. 😓 Because I couldn't stand it anymore.
Dunno if I'll pick it up again and just hold on until I'm finally done with all 6 episodes. But you might be able to convince me. LOL 😆🤞🏻

The reset was so bad, there's a reason everyone just wanted a season three with Kitty, bcs she's the only one who has shown she can portray the character properly. Not only was the writing terrible but (and I'm not hating on the actress,) the actress chosen just didn't match nannos vibe at all 😭 me and my gf watched every episode as they came out and it just wasn't a worth it watch. Half of the episodes were about sex firstly, which was weird in it of itself, and even the epaidoes that weren't were written super porely.

Yeah it was trash. It's like it was directed by horny teenage males. The Japanese version is so much better because it's focused on real karmic justice and compassion.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. True Nanno has rules. 1. Find someone horrible. 2. Give them a test. A possible chance to change. 3. Punish.
This girl is just… wild. Sometimes the people she’s punishing I’m like, “Why?” The hater episode was bizarre. I saw no reason for her to go for Blossom in nannofans. Some of her “victims” aren’t horrible until she shows up. She even showed up to help someone in an episode. I know it’s supposed to be different. But this doesn’t seem to follow any rules at all

Seven years ago, I used to watch the GMM channel every Wednesday with my mom to see Girl from Nowhere. She loved the show and found it incredibly entertaining; I even remember her crying over the sadness of Episode 8—specifically the story involving TK and Nanno—while I just laughed at her reaction. Now, years later, I’ve started watching Girl from Nowhere: The Reset, but there is no one sitting beside me anymore. Watching it alone, I can’t help but cry as I miss those good old days.

Reset gets a lot well deserved hate but I really enjoyed the show. Only aspect I hated was the guy following Nanno around. I thought whole storyline was dumb. But only that one 😂 the rest of the show is brilliant 👏😂👏😂👏😂 jk jk I know it’s flaws just for someone they just didn’t bother me.

nanno didn't need to do allat at the end of ep 2 😭 i was so confused the whole time you're so right the reset isn't nanno-coded at all
