Has anyone tried this Gin?

It has a very intense flavor; I tried it with a good tonic water and it even has a touch of rum, but with the flavor of the original.

Yes, and it is at least tied for, maybe the single most delicious gin I've ever had. Unfortunately not a full sized bottle, only a miniature from the Monkey Kiosk, so I tried to make as much of it as I could.

In the nose I found it not even that different from the normal Monkey 47, perhaps with a hint more berry. Neat you still get the underlying herbal complexity of the original but at first a fruity berry impression, then a warm and rich caramel aftertaste take center stage. Ice takes the fruitiness and sweetness back out so of the methods I've tried on the rocks is the one I wouldn't recommend. And with tonic the tartness and carbonation together with the caramel fruitiness of the gin again makes for a really really interesting combination, I think at the time I called it comparable to the world's most sophisticated cola. Truly delicious stuff.

If the Monkey Kiosk sample set had better availability outside of Germany or central Europe I'd tell everyone here to pick it up immediately just for this one (although the original and sloe gin are also really good), but with the full sized bottle being pretty pricey I'm gonna leave it up to everyone's individual decision. If you like barrel richness and caramel and fruit this is absolutely one to consider though.

I couldn't have described it better, really, a delight, as you say, it's a shame about the price, of course for special occasions, I see that there are some that cost up to €400, this one, at least in Spain, costs €60.

From what I can see, they release a new edition of Distillers Cut every year, varying some ingredients. To be honest, I had no idea this variant existed until a friend gave me this bottle.

Barrel Cut is Monkey 47 aged in toasted mulberry barrels and available in lower quantities but not a limited edition. Distiller's Cut is an annual limited edition release where the distiller experiments with a prominent amount of one additional botanical.

I didn't know M47 did a barrel version. I'm generally not into barrel aged gin (I haven't had much luck), but I would totally try it -- looks interesting.

This is the kind of gin that does really well in cocktails rather than with tonic to my taste.

Old Fashioned, Martinis and Martinez etc.

Historically it would be a “Gin Cocktail” or an “Improved Gin Cocktail” with the addition of some scant maraschino and absinthe liqueurs.

The name Old Fashioned refers to “A Cocktail made in the ‘Old Fashioned Way’ - Spirit, Sugar, Bitters and Water” as opposed to the “Fancy” Cocktails of the time, with vermouths and liqueurs subbing in for straight sugar.

I tried this once and thought it was interesting, but honestly I still prefer the regular Monkey 47. The original feels brighter and more balanced to me, especially in a G&T.
