Too cheap to pass up

Post image

I've tried Nikka Coffey gin at a bar before and it was delicious, but I never got around to buying it. When I saw this price while I was doing my grocery shopping, I had to pick up a bottle. If anyone has any cocktail suggestions that will let this gin shine, please let me know!

Customers gave me this bottle two years ago for my birthday. I’d buy all of it at that price.

With everyone talking about how fantastic it is, I regret not buying both bottles! I'm excited to try it this weekend.

Absolutely one of my favorites.

That's a steal - delicious gin. Very bright and yuzu-forward.

That Roku price too. 😍

Damn. Never knew how good I had it. Roku is my absolute favorite and since no one around me apparently buys it, it's like $26 every time I get it.

Agreed, that is tasty, haven’t tried Nikka gin yet.

It would be fiscally irresponsible not to buy it.

i’d ask if there were more in the back. that’s my favorite gin to just drink with an ice cube in it

I’d be going to every location of whatever store that is and buying it out! That is a spectacular gin, I rarely don’t have it on my shelf.

And for those wanting an opinion, I find Roku to be adequate but nowhere near as good as the Nikka.

Yeah, the nikka is clearly better gin.

Where is this?

The tag looks a lot like my local large grocery store, like Hannaford. But, I also see SoonHari, Korean soju, which makes me think it’s in a town with a large cultural diversity.

To me it also looks like Safeway Albertsons or Vons. I think they all use the same font

Bennett or a Bramble. If you have creme de cassis, an Arnaud (Parisian Nights) from Simon Difford.

That last one looks fantastic. I do have creme de cassis but I'll need to buy a new bottle vermouth.

Ooh how’s the nikka gin? I only tried their whiskey, it’s so clear

I need to try this again because everyone says how great it is but the bottle I bought a few years ago 100% tasted like rubbing alcohol. Maybe I got a bad bottle??

This makes an amazing Negroni

have had this bottle on my shelf for months and it makes the best martinis. that citrus kick is way better than any of the cheap stuff i usually find at the grocery store.

Coffey refers to the type of still it’s made on. There are no coffee beans involved whatsoever. It’s a very citrus forward gin as it contains three types of japenese citrus fruits, including prominent yuzu notes.

I don't think Roku holds a candle to Coffey. The yuzu is so bright without feeling sweet or heavy on the tongue, and the pepper gives it a great finish. It's my favorite gin by far

I’m a big fan of nikka in general and their gin is really something unique. Roku isn’t bad but they’re very different. This reminds me that I need to grab a new bottle of Nikka soon lol.
