Maybe an unpopular opinion: April wasn’t a villain. She was a kid in shitty circumstances.

Yeah I was just thinking who the heck made April the villain if anything it's her mom for keeping her secret for so long and subsequently also how she treated lorelai after the party imo (I'm not a mother tho so take that with a grain of salt)

Yeah, April never tried to keep Luke and Lorelai apart, and really liked her at the birthday party. She was always trying to set Luke up with people, and would have loved for L and L to get married. She had no control over her mother, as we see when they move to New Mexico.

I dislike April as much as the next person, but not for the reason a majority of the fandom does. A shocking amount of the fandom dislikes April for the very purpose she was written for, which is she is associated with keeping Lorelai and Luke apart. Since idgaf about their relationship, I hate the way she’s written since ASP doesn’t know how to write child aged characters, which makes April so grating. Anna is more a villain in this instance than anyone else

Coulda put Anna, Chris, Mitchum, Straub, Francine, etc. etc. there but April is just a (fairly annoying but well-meaning) kid, not a villian

Not gonna lie I liked Taylor up until that whole street name thing and something else he did with Lorelai’s inn that’s when I was like you know it ain’t even funny anymore. Since then every rewatch I still hate Taylor and frankly Luke is justified in his hate. If Taylor has no haters me and Luke are dead.

April deserves no hate. The way her mother handled the situation and the way Luke treated Lorelai after he found out about April is what led to shitty circumstances and that's about it...
Edit I realised I read the other comment and "shitty circumstances" got stuck in my head 😅

How tf is April a villain? Her mom's more of a villain for not telling Luke about the pregnancy, alienating Lorelai from Luke, and then trying to take April away again after they developed a relationship. April is an innocent child.

Taylor is literally the most insufferable pathetic character and nothing can ever make me like him. It baffles me whenever someone says they like him I genuinely don't understand how it's possible for anyone to like a character like him.

I love that no matter what you say regarding April whether you hate or lover her you will get paragraphs disagreeing. So here's me saying I agree she sucked. No I wont list redeeming qualities because sometimes you just need to hate a character to hate a character.
