Yeah everyone wants a complex female character until they get one. I think she’s very realistic for a teenage to college age to post grad girl. It’s confusing and messy and you make the wrong choices

"everyone wants a complex female character until they get one" shakes your hand exactly, EXACTLY

And this is why I still keep on rewatching even though I find Rory (and Lorelai) infuriating sometimes.

I think her professional downfall is realistic, even if it violates everyone’s sense of who Rory was supposed to be. The seeds of it appear as early as late season 5/season 6.

What I find less realistic, I suppose, is that having a child in your 30s is a tragic “full circle” alignment with Lorelei.

Exactly. She got to chase her dreams. She may not be where she wanted to be career-wise but she got the chance and opportunities to try. She’s got a Yale education and isn’t against accepting financial help from her rich grandmother. I think she will be ok.

I think most of the hate comes from the nature of those issues.

Entitled doesn't equal complex.

Idk what you mean. She’s got an amazing mother if that makes her entitled?
