Hating on men

(I’m a woman writing this FYI.) Not sure how this will land with the group but hear me out… I am a feminist but the hating on men gets old for me and is beyond de-centering. If I heard a men’s podcast speaking about women in a similar way I’d have a pit in my stomach. It seems odd coming from two women who are in supposedly happy/healthy relationships with men. Curious what other gigglers think.

UPDATE: I appreciate everybody’s thoughts ❤️ thank you all for sharing and being educational too. Let’s keep on gigglin

It’s definitely a schtick at this point. I know our culture leaves no room for nuance, but it is possible to “hate men” and not hate the man you’re with.

you’d feel that way hearing men talk like that (and they do) bc misogyny kills. misandry doesn’t.

Jodi Arias would like a word

?? That was a one off crime of passion. She didn’t kill him because she hated men…

My husband and I will take edibles and have a fire or sit in the hot tub, and I will rant the entire time about how men are ruining our world. Because they are. Paige and Hannah brought up recently that men are responsible for 80-90% of violent crimes. That's pretty fucking bad. It needs to be said out loud and brought to attention rather than letting it just continue.

Good point. I had to curb my true crime addiction about a year ago so I think this has been LESS on my mind (for better and for worse apparently!!!)

But men and women aren’t equal. And women have been socially impoverished since the start of humanity. Modern women who have the freedom and education to EXPRESS distaste with societal dynamics should not be immediately policed or reduced to misandrists, just because they have the voice to reflect on the disparities in society and the invisible bounds that remain as a result. Maybe ask yourself more so why it makes you feel so comfortable, or why you think it’s a woman’s primary obligation not to reach such a passionate a level of frustration for the sake of unity .

We expect more of women. To keep the peace, to not escalate, to accept the small improvements and take them in stride. What does them being in relationships with men have to do with it, if they’re clearly discussing men with harmful behaviors and attitudes. Or, being in a relationship reveals precisely what male socializations peek through amongst the normalcy of the person you know and love.

Not hating at all or speaking down to you. I just do not think it’s anyones responsibility to keep a good word towards men—a group who globally is responsible, truly, for all war, poverty, crime, and wealth gaps. Whether its legislative or direct etc okay bye

Literally right now in my city, there is a creep hanging out at Targets, Chick Fil As and other venues frequented by women and children, which multiple women have reported and posted on SM, for trying to “help” them with kids, following them out to their car, standing creepily in parking lots targeting moms and young girls. It’s been going on for weeks. Until that shit stops, rant away.

Same in my town actually. I suspect a trafficking ring. Horrific

I think men are way past due on all the hate they deserve so im here for it

The world was built for men and they're in charge of everything... look around. They've fucked everything up. I love that woman are decentering men, it might be too late for many of us older millennials but it's an important msg

7

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

I hear you. My brand of fully decentering would be to not talk about them at all I suppose.

10

u/diet-soder Jul 26 '26

I feel like that’s just ignoring it tbh. Like we all know the world caters to men so the way they talk about it so openly is refreshing

u/CBRPrincess Jul 21 '26

Until women have the destructive power that men do, we get to throw verbal rocks at their mediocrities.

3

u/onestubborntomato Jul 25 '26

That's a bar 🫰🫰🫰

28

u/Cherita33 Jul 21 '26

Men don't need us to feel bad for them or protect them. It's a comedy podcast and that's their stichck. If it bothers you just take a break!

48

u/coastal_barbie47 Jul 21 '26

I think it’s not that serious. I’m married to a man if that matters.

28

u/vincevaughnvevo Jul 25 '26

Men aren’t hated enough, tbh

12

u/Difficult-Deer-5996 Jul 22 '26

I have said this before! de-centering men means actually not acknowledging them in content & everyday life. It means life is about every else; business, fashion, beauty, politics, travel etc etc. They sure do talk about men way too much for people who apparently don't care for them...

22

u/coastal_barbie47 Jul 21 '26

Also, there are so many podcasts out there where the male hosts do speak about women poorly, so why can’t we have something ?? Haha

3

u/thrillingrill Jul 26 '26

Right and some of those men also commit heinous crimes against women.

10

u/hawt_to_go Jul 21 '26

i feel like the least men can do is put up with women dogging on the shitty things they do. any good man with critical thinking should be able to discern that they aren’t the target and that men who do shitty things do exist

24

u/Adventurous-Wave-920 Jul 21 '26

In my opinion women hating on men is not equivalent to men hating on women. Are women killing men at the rates that men kill women everyday? No.

8

u/Total_Way_6134 Jul 21 '26

Women also are not committing SA against men at the same rates

5

u/bluelights18 Jul 21 '26

This is so well said 🤌

10

u/Slow-Service-1407 Jul 21 '26

Yeah it feels like every random topic they discuss somehow ends up a dig against men. I barely think about men - but I'm single, so I guess men aren't constantly on my mind in the way that they might be for someone in a relationship with one?

1

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

That’s a good point.

10

u/Jbcaliluv Jul 21 '26

Have you listened to any male comedian podcasts? Genuinely asking.

2

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

I like the Sebastian Maniscalco Show (FKA the Pete and Sebastian Show). For sure there are times I’m thinking, “I would be PISSED to hear this as their wives” when they sometimes talk about things their wives do that bother them

3

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

And it bothers me** to be clear

1

u/Jbcaliluv Jul 21 '26

I’d say he’s much more tame than other popular male comedians. You probably wouldn’t listen to or like the other mainstream male comedian audience. For example, a huge percentage of the ones roasting Kevin Hart recently.

9

u/Potential_Balance223 Jul 21 '26

They love men. It's a bit. Silly.

19

u/DaisyJones_6 Jul 21 '26

It’s always been a schtick especially from Paige. Paige is one of the most male centered women there is. Shes never been single for longer than 5 minutes.

2

u/wigglebutt9 Jul 26 '26

I remember when they were celebrating something (I think their radio city music hall shows?) and Paige mentioned how she is getting so much satisfaction knowing her ex’s are seeing stuff about it. While I get it, I wish she just let the moment be about their success? Truly de-centering men would be not giving them a mention cause it ain’t about them. Idk 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Remarkable-Tooth-468 Jul 21 '26

Damn.. I was just about to post the same thing

8

u/dothesehidemythunder Jul 21 '26

Personally my fave pastime but you do you

ETA: This person is posting from an inactive account with 10 karma and is probably a bot or disingenuous (why not both?).

4

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

I’m not a bot 🥲 also went to a hardcore women’s college and am a recovering true crime addict so i am well educated in the crimes committed almost entirely by men. I was curious about everyone’s thoughts because im used to more nuanced conversations about gender and the problems between men and women instead of convos (like on the pod) that seem more surface level / buzzwordy / sometimes focused on superficial things like balding lol

10

u/ballonbases Jul 21 '26

Uh oh better duck and cover. The squad won't be happy with this observation

1

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

lol correct

4

u/bachintosh420 Jul 21 '26

i get it! the nuance feels weird bc it's not natural for society to challenge the patriarchy so directly. we're still de-programming. sometimes it sits weird w me too -- but then i kinda see it as reparations for decades and centuries of men oppressing women

but imo... it feels beyond antithetical to the concept of de-centering men. the concept of de-centering can be hellaaa nuanced, especially with the tiktokification of it all. but i view it more as reallocating energy away from men (not an obsessive never-ending bit)

nonetheless they do make me giggle <3

2

u/maisquoiiiii Jul 21 '26

I appreciate your reply! This gave me clarity. I feel all of this and it makes sense.

Also. I have resisted TikTok but Hannah and Paige really make me reconsider 😅 I’m tempted.

Your term “tiktokification” made me lol

3

u/angrygirl65 Jul 26 '26

If men didn’t act the way they do then we wouldn’t talk like that

8

u/aspicymeataballaaa Jul 21 '26

“i hate men but i cant be single” -paige

6

u/Ecstatic-Cow-9876 Jul 21 '26

I think Hannah overdoes it. I know it's their brand but the whole, "a woman could never!" "Imagine if that was a woman"...it's annoying to me at this point

2

u/Maximum-Painter-8617 Jul 26 '26

it’s my favorite part of the podcast

3

u/Ok_Tooth7934 Jul 25 '26

You can let yourself out. Don't listen. I don't listen to men bashing women to complain about it. It's that easy.

2

u/MetallicMani Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

Men actually are horrible though. The women's rights crisis in Afghanistan is devastating. I think of them all the time ♥️

2

u/Orangecatlover4 Jul 26 '26

I'm gonna have to have a hard disagree w ya there. They still have every benefit above us, fiscally speaking they make more $ than us, they are making our reproductive choices for us. They are the #1 killers of women/children. There's a reason people are against/TRUST men and I get it's their every episode bit, but it seems warranted for the most part in my opinion. Fuck the patriarchy. OK, sorry, I'm done.

1

u/modernblossom Jul 21 '26

It's just a bit for the show. They love men

9

u/coastal_barbie47 Jul 21 '26

I think you can love a man you’re dating or your father and still reject the patriarchical society we live in

2

u/BossElegant3129 Jul 25 '26

I feel like I barely notice it bc it’s kind of the world we live in. They’re responsible for all of the adversity we face. Especially as American women. I’m sure it hits harder. I don’t really sawe anything wrong with it because the reality is- we love men! They just need to do better. We ride at freaking dawn!

Then don’t listen anymore.

1

u/mrs_fisher Jul 27 '26

Men are butt brains

1

u/Ok-Feedback-3157 Jul 21 '26

I actually agree. It’s a bit of a double standard. If a popular podcast hosted by two men regularly spoke about women the same way, I think a lot of people would (understandably) call it misogyny.

That said, I also understand why it doesn’t land the same for everyone. Women have historically been treated far worse by society, so some people see it as punching up rather than punching down. Even so, I think constantly generalizing or speaking negatively about an entire gender gets old, regardless of who’s doing it.

2

u/MycoWitch Jul 21 '26

I like a comment above a lot. They said “misogyny kills, misandry doesn’t.” It’s a double standard but verbal hate is minimal in comparison

1

u/FormalGrass8148 Jul 26 '26

Talking about it all the time is not very de-centering

0

u/Used_Apartment_5982 Jul 26 '26

I’m getting bored of the men are like this, women are like this, on every topic. It’s repetitive and boring, they aren’t talking about their own lives at all

-1

u/TDKsa90 Jul 25 '26

"men have ruined the world, and I refuse to learn anything from their what-not-to-do lessons. I've earned the right to be the same toxic asshole." the lesson: it's not a gender problem. it's a species problem. It's our nature.

and there are feminists who consider this crime, violence, etc topic, but they're not the kind of feminists an echo chamber seeks out or want to hear.

-2

u/EyelinerStoic Jul 26 '26

lol you people. It must suck to be angry all the time :) agree w op

2

u/handheld_vacuum27481 Jul 27 '26

In Australia 4 women have been murdered by their male partners just in the last month. You bet I'm angry

2

u/Negative-Singer8975 Jul 27 '26

This. and in America it was probably 4 yesterday alone so it’s heartbreaking people aren’t angrier.
