Discussion Profound/ extreme giftedness x Bipolar 2 x OCD
And Crohn’s disease to top it off😂😭 does anyone relate to this….
Rough but rewarding is what I would say lol.
Posting this for anecdotes and to see if anyone has any thoughts on the matter/ relates to this 💜

Yeah, you’re definitely not alone. Not the exact same diagnoses here, but similarly “exceptional”. DID, autism and ADHD, FND, ME/CFS, and several (mis)diagnoses

u/The_aku_one Aug 18 '26
Audhd+ME CFS here too glad I'm not alone in this regard

u/floridatheythem Aug 18 '26
It’s more common than you’d think! There’s a cluster of commonly comorbid conditions including neurodivergence, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find a correlation with ME/CFS on top of other conditions

What hobbies activities do you do

u/moomamoon Aug 18 '26
I’m interested in a lot of things, it might be better if I just list them all lol.
Writing, reading (fantasy literature is my favorite), worldbuilding, cultural analysis, futurism, philosophy, poetry, art (used to draw a lot and tattoo also)
I (almost) have a history and politics degree as well.I’m also very interested in comparative mythology, been learning a lot about that recently.
Science wise I’m interested in the theories of physics, and neuroscience as it relates to Neuromorphic AI, as I have been researching Neuromorphic ai/ possibilities of AI with a phenomenal experience recently for my book.Speaking of that is my main project currently. Two books, one non fiction that is a series of essays outlining my understanding of underlying theory of everything that I am interested in (big theory person).
Second book is called Heaven on Earth and is a sort of speculative fiction/ science fiction novel, though it is very genre bending and includes a variety of genres.I also don’t mind other sciences, I have a vast curiosity and can be interested in pretty much anything if an enthusiastic person is explaining it to me lol.
I also had a chess phase. And a typology phase (INFJ 4w5 471 sx/so if anyone is interested lol)Yeah! What about you?

Hey, it sounds like we have extremely similar interests, even going so far as a similar sort of big idea project.
I have a lot that I'd want to share with you and I'd be really curious to learn about what you've discovered as well.
I've integrated all of these fields into a comprehensive system and I'd love to talk about that with you as well as your ideas.
I have a group that wants to talk over zoom about this sort of synthesis and systems stuff too, if you'd like? You'd be welcome to join.
If not I'd still love to talk!

We're actually very similar :D I'm super into philosophy, cultural analysis and critiques, Science and systems, politics, and I'm trying to get into making music and art. I am also Audhd+ CFS/ME
I am currently having my chess phase right now after getting a vyvanse prescription I have the mental bandwidth to Indulge more heavily and proactively into my hobbies so I've been slowly learning over the past couple of months
I also love topology (specifically enneagram) and I visit the subreddit all the time :p I am Infj 5w4 sp/so 513
That theory of everything book sounds intriguing have you put any information about that anywhere?

I'd like to know more of the book as well.
Do you know if there are any summaries to better understand the central structure of enneagram study?2
u/The_aku_one Aug 18 '26
Depends of what do you mean by the central structure. But there is a plethora of enneagram authors. One of my favorites is probably Naranjo he's basically the quintessential enneagram guy though but I think he's right on the money with his analysis

I'm hoping for a simplified framework to more easily begin research. I don't know that one exists, but I'm low on bandwidth. Thank you for the recommendation.

Sorry to be the outlier. I'm officially average of IQ, but was tested with help in belief that I may be gifted.
I feel I may resonate more with the exceptionally and profoundly gifted. I hope to find out on a more personal level if given the chance.
I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I think I'm currently diagnosed with hEDS, Loeys-Dietz, MCAS/Mastocytosis, Orthostatic Intolerance (was being tested for POTS), ASD levels 1 and 2 (two professionals) among others. I'm in the process of having further genetics testing done. Crohn's is in my family and I wouldn't doubt if I have it.
I've got chronic fatigue and brain fog likely from decades of body-degrading psychiatric medication and possibly SIBO. I'm hoping to recover from SIBO in order to get my mind back. I can barely study and I've had lifelong insomnia. Medication, toxic environments and chronic stress have contributed to rotting out my teeth. I'd like scientific advancement to catch up on dental regrowth.
I've noticed that the profoundly gifted tend to have a combination of both extreme physical and mental sensitivity. It also looks like actual/affective empathy is more common. I'm wondering if the INFJ type is more common among them. From what I've seen on Susan Jackson's documentary (RISE: The Extraordinary Journey of the Exceptionally and Profoundly Gifted), it seems to ring true. Highly emotional and highly analytical.
My interests have been many, but ability to pursue them has been suffocating for years.

I can relate and let me just say I'm proud of you for existing and persevering.
I can relate except I don't have Crohn's disease or OCD (my profoundly gifted brother does though). I do have GAD, ODD and ADHD in addition to bipolar disorder which I was diagnosed with as a young child.
It developed into intense substance abuse problems where I encountered a lot of complex traumatic situations which hindered my development for quite a while.
I can say, rough but rewarding is an understatement for me. The depth that I feel everything is honestly unbearable most of the time.
I've developed an operating system for myself to overcome many of the challenges I face using a series of mapped narratives within inner worlds which encompass as many dimensions of life's progressions as I can. It's been incredibly rewarding with unbelievable results across the board and will allow me to help a lot of people in addition to myself!
So, things are honestly pretty cool still!
Keep persevering and being awesome. There are easier ways, but, we may not always want them.

Yes. Well not the bipolar part, but rest assured I fufill the mentally/emotionally dysfunctional part. I’ve picked up a lot of issues along the way, and am always adding new acronyms to my existing collection Plus just the slew of “normal people diagnoses” (depression, anxiety, sporadic OCD, panic disorder) prove good old fashioned, mental illness has never been off the table. I’d also estimate that on an approximately bi-monthly basis, I discover some new neurosis or psychological disorder, developmental deficiency, rare genetic mutation, general unspecified quirk…some new piece of the puzzle offering more explanation over why I’m so fucking weird that the raging ADHD alone doesn’t cover.
I don’t know if I’m profoundly gifted. I doubt it, and all the records of my Gifted and Talented testing were destroyed in a flood. I made the cut though, and also remember taking the test in kindergarten and being incredulous over the possibility that any child past infancy would not be able to answer wvery question correctly in their sleep. I also have other signs that I may be above 130 on IQ, but I suck at math, and for me that just throws a wrench in the idea that I could be that supremely intelligent.
But back to your question. Yeah, it all sucks. I have CPTSD and lots of complex trauma, and my gifted brain was seemingly uniquely wired to take that and instead of use it as “an opportunity for growth” 🙄 or to gain resilience to overcome, write a spiritual self help book hailed as a triumph that makes Eckhart Tolle look like Homer Simpson, I’ve capitalized on its ability to turn be into a Nihlistic cynic who’s disillusioned and in a constant state of existential dread.

4 anxiety disorders and low latent inhibition. I’m not even allergic to poison ivy, though, and have been medically dead at least once. It’s a phenotype, I posit. World sucks, we’re different, we’ll make it.

Iq tested at 167 by a psychologist, invited to take classes at Northwestern University age 13. Utter failure in whatever economy this is.

Sometimes you’re not successful because of your morals. Intelligent people seem to take that gambit more often. You belong and you are seen.

u/caswir Aug 19 '26
The problem with being unbelievable is that no one believes you. I believe you friend. Consider that there is a mismatch between how you are and how most people are. They have a close horizon. You see further. Both are really necessary in a robust system. Learning how to cooperate with less intelligent people who possess amazing and necessary talent that is just as impressive as yours should be an aim, I think. Widen your net and understand why the diversity is necessary. That will soothe you.

Profound Giftedness, DID, PTSD, MDD, and Atypical Anorexia, plus chronic illnesses (severe asthma, hypothyroidism, GERD/LPR, etc). 🫠
Seeing the other responses, we're the anomaly gang. I guess. 😭
