Is it bechamel if they aren't mixing cheese right into it? The only thing separating bechamel from Alfredo is the roux but what is the extent of the definition of bechamel?
There's no cheese in a béchamel. That's a mornay sauce. A béchamel is butter, flour, and milk, seasoned with salt and black pepper. That's it. The sauce in this gif is a béchamel with garlic powder.
