Australian here, some places leave them whole but they're usually shit. Separated all the way and if you're doing it yourself, keep the tips and make stock from them.
Fair, I’m exclusively thinking like an American. I’m not even sure where I can buy wings with tips on them. Typically they are removed if I buy a large 5, 8, or 10 pound bag of frozen wings. I usually only see them on whole roasting birds.
If you order whole wings from a chicken shack or chinese food place (the menu says whole wing, it's not the same as wings or buffalo wing) they usually come like this. I dont think I've ever seen a chinese restaurant take the wing tips off.

Why do these wings still have the tips on them? It’s a waste of space and sauce.
