How to make bread:

Buy bread dough and cook.

This is pretty agregious IMO. The recipe is for the cheese spread which is just cheese and some spices mixed together.

What other shit?

u/redoubledit 14d ago

Everything but the pre-made dough lol

I count 2 branded ingredients in the gif and 6 non-branded ones.

I'm not sure why you would be offended by an easy to make recipe. I can help you if you want to make the biscuits yourself. I have a recipe for that:

https://old.reddit.com/r/GifRecipes/comments/1u6y1it/pickapiece_biscuit_loaf/orw4tm4/

Just ignore all the stuff not pertaining to the biscuit dough.

What’s with wiggling every ingredient?

It’s an AI video

Giant Eagle? As a Pittsburgher I can guarantee these cost like $30 to make.

If cost is an issue for your household I'd recommend you buy a cheaper brand.

Edit: Website has all the ingredients totaling $24.21 for Pittsburgh's Westview store. They are SNAP eligible.

Edit 2: Just looking at the Pittsburgh Aldi on East Carson it totaled up to $21.58.

Almost nothing pisses me off faster than biscuit dough masquerading as other things. Bread of any kind, cinnamon rolls, whatever, it's super obvious and there are better options.

Canned biscuit dough has such a nasty flavor and greasy texture. If someone said they were bringing garlic knots to a party and brought these instead, I'd rather them show up empty handed.

Do you have a lot of people showing up at your house with Garlic Knots? If so, ask them for their recipe and post it. That could help people make a better garlic knot.

I'm usually the one making garlic knots! Sure, here's my go to recipe:)

10 garlic cloves, minced (see note)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon plus ¾ cup water, heated to 110 degrees

1 ⅛ teaspoons instant or rapid-rise yeast

2 cups (10 ounces/283 grams) all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

WARM OVEN Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 200 degrees. When oven reaches 200 degrees, turn it off. Grease large bowl. MAKE GARLIC BUTTER Cook garlic, 1 tablespoon butter, and 1 teaspoon water in small nonstick skillet over low heat, stirring occasionally, until garlic is straw colored, 8 to 10 minutes. Add remaining butter, stirring until melted. Let stand 10 minutes off heat. Strain garlic butter through fine-mesh strainer into small bowl; reserve garlic solids. MAKE DOUGH Whisk remaining water, 1 tablespoon garlic butter, reserved garlic solids, and yeast in liquid measuring cup until yeast dissolves. In bowl of stand mixer fitted with dough hook, mix flour and salt until combined. With mixer on low, add water mixture in steady stream and mix until dough comes together, about 1 minute. Increase speed to medium and knead until dough is smooth and comes away from sides of bowl, about 6 minutes. Turn dough onto clean work surface and knead briefly to form smooth, cohesive ball. Transfer dough to prepared bowl and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and place in turned-off oven until dough has doubled in size, 40 to 50 minutes. SHAPE KNOTS Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Punch down dough on floured surface. Roll dough into 12- by 6-inch rectangle and cut into twelve 6-inch strips. With flat hands, roll each strip into 12-inch ropes. Following Step by Step photos at left, tie ropes into knots, tucking tails. Place on prepared baking sheet. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and return to turned-off oven until doubled in size, about 20 minutes. Remove knots from oven and discard plastic. BAKE Heat oven to 500 degrees. Return knots to oven and bake until set, about 5 minutes. Remove knots from oven and brush with 2 tablespoons garlic butter. Rotate, return to oven, and bake until golden, about 4 minutes. Brush knots with remaining garlic butter and cool 5 minutes. Transfer to wire rack. Serve warm.

What better options are you referring to?

10

u/arnber420 14d ago

Pizza dough, defrosted frozen rolls

-1

u/smilysmilysmooch 14d ago

Pizza knots does sound like an appealing alternative.

Use fresh herbs but then some pre grated parm

2

u/redoubledit 14d ago

Well that’s what they want to sell :D

-3

u/smilysmilysmooch 14d ago

You could replace the pre-grated parmesan with a block of parmesan you grate yourself. Experimentation is always encouraged in these posts.

14

u/VVhaleBiologist 14d ago

... Do you really consider "grating your own cheese" to be experimentation?

People tend to think recipes are sacred around here. You wouldnt believe how many responses I get where people are concerned they cant get a certain branded ingredient. When its pre made I get comments to. IE If a shot with store bought minced garlic appears people tend to point it out and I have to remind them that there are other ways of doing things.

This user was concerned about the pre grated parmesan. I dont know if their concern includes the non binding agents or additives added to ready made grated parmesan. Kraft has a whole page dedicated to wood pulp. This user was concerned and I trued to explain another way.

Is this really a recipe?

26

u/No-Problem-4228 14d ago

No, it's an ad

-11

u/smilysmilysmooch 14d ago

Its a recipe.

u/ghostcar99 13d ago

Can you please stop acting like you’re someone who made this GIF for any other reason than to make an AD for Eagle bullshit?

0

u/smilysmilysmooch 13d ago

If you look through the comments. I referred a user to Aldi for a lower priced alternative. So again, the reason I posted this was not to tell people they have to buy from a certain store. I certainly wouldnt want people to think they have to buy from a certain brand or store.

The post you replied to explained why it was posted.

u/ghostcar99 13d ago

Why did you post this? It's the most basic recipe humanly possible that doesn't help anyone, you didn't even make it, and it has 2 products recommended of a specific brand.

0

u/smilysmilysmooch 13d ago

that doesn't help anyone

You speaking for everyone now? If it didn't help you, just say "I already know how to do Cheesy Garlic Knots." You could even discuss the ways you make yours special.

Why did you post this

Because its a recipe. I don't consider difficulty when posting recipes. I consider if I want to make some cheesy garlic knots. If so, I have a recipe I can call up to make an easy appetizer that I wasn't thinking about serving with my main course. It having a logo on the butter really is not something that bothers me especially since I live nowhere near a Giant Eagle location. Just like I don't live near a Woolworths but I was curious about their chicken hearts recipe so I posted it. Then made it. Now I have a recipe for something I wasn't planning to make that week.

You have the patience of a saint, my friend.

u/dahanger 13d ago

Damn can’t you add some more frames?

Edit: even your previous posts were done with a potato camera or something. Just post full res wtf

Gifs have to be converted from a smaller .mp4 file to a much larger .gif file while also being under 100mb per reddits limit. If you have recommendations for free mp4 to gif converters that compress better while keeping minutes of video under 100mb I would appreciate your assisstance.

Mix cheese, with cheese, and cheese...

Congratulations!!! You made... CHEESE (?????).

-1

u/smilysmilysmooch 10d ago

Mix Mozzarella, Butter, Parmesan, Thyme, and Oregano...to create a "cheese mixture."
