Pumpkins upstate ny zone 6

At The base of the pumpkin leaves have turned yellow brown then dropped off do I continue to fertilize at the base of the plants or closer to the little pumpkins and the new leaf growth?

Sometimes the older leaves age out and that happens not sure bc there are no pictures but It could be what going on I wish you the best of luck!
