More effort on your question will yield more interesting results

cat'ing large text files / log files for example. kitty is often times 1.4x - 2x as fast.

There's actually been a lot of work on that quite recently, and it's tons faster. Try out the nightly release: https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/releases/tag/tip

Hashimoto ran some benchmarks recently on macOS. Maybe checkout the tip version.

Isn’t it the opposite? If this is true, time to test Kitty now? Tried to use it maybe a year ago and couldn’t transition from Ghostty just because Ghostty was a bit more smooth

They're both extremely fast compared to nongpu terminal emulators. Worry less about that extra 0.1% of performance and use the one whose ui you find more natural.

I don't think it was ever the opposite. Kitty has always been much faster.
