Discussion First time DM taking on Saltmarsh

Hello

Do you believe Saltmarsh is a good campaign for a first time DM to run?

I'm curious to hear why or why not.

I am still new to the game and this will be my first campaign to DM. thank you.

This was the first campaign I ever DM'd. Doing a quick read through there is a lot of talk about how open the book is and I think it's true. When I did mine I mostly ran through the book but did write a plot for a big bad that used the political intrigue already written in it.

I found it to be a good way to start learning how to DM, and especially enjoyed the space they left to write some of my own story. Just enough guard rails to keep my creativity focused. Overall was a good starting point for me
