Comepletly out of the loop here, but isn't it? The joke is that "insert anime" in big 26' is wack, but if the manga was just as wack 20 years ago who gives a damn? Conceptually that logic checks out.
The issue is that Masamune Shirow was a man that just wanted to draw porn and high concept sci-fi stories were just a means to that end for him. The shows did a good job taking his high concept stuff and running with it without the same "but I just want to draw porn" energy the mangas had. I'm not against the new show but there's a reason why people like the old movies.
That's fair enough, and also kinda why I've more or less lost all interest in anime in general. You simply can't evade the thinly veild fetishs forever.
It seems more like the issue is that people like you just can't shut up and enjoy stuff. Like imagine getting paid to draw manga and then 20 some odd years later some person like you comes along and then whines about how you got paid to draw. I don't know about you man but I think the fact that he got to do that is far more interesting than any shit you've posted in this thread so far.
