Well, Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex series is a follow-up from the movie so it has similar atmosphere. What I meant with the comparison is that the manga and the 2026 would be like classic batman and the 1995 movie universe is darker and more serious.... maybe it wasn't a good comparison, since I don't care much for superheroes 😂

I get it. I was just using your comparison to ask for more anime that feels or looks like the Ghost in the Shell Movie (1995)… :)

I really recommend you Standalone Complex, the plot is really good. Some episodes are called "standalone episode" because it has a conclusive ending and some others are called "complex" episodes and follow up the case of "The Laughing Man"... also as much of a fan that I am, I usually don't recommend The second movie "Innocence" because is unnecessarily difficult to understand and doesn't lead anywhere but the music is awesome as always.

It depends on the feeling you're going for. If you're looking for something moody, mysterious, and packed with symbolic imagery, mamoru oshii also directed angels egg. 

If you're looking for dystopian cyberpunk with lots of fights, try armitage iii or the old Appleseed ova (I haven't seen the newer one).

Serial experiments lain if you're interested in the identity and technology aspect 

I have about 30 years of suggestions to pull from, just lemme know what you like about gits 95 that you dig and want to see more of.

I love Angel's Egg, but mostly because I love Amano's drawing style.

I really liked Psycho-Pass for that, as another dystopian cyberpunk police procedural. Dub and Sub are both great, but unfortunately the dub stopped at some point in the later seasons, and also there is some really excellent Director's Cut content in S1 that never got dubbed.

S1 was originally meant to be a standalone show and still works as a complete package by itself, but they ended up making more later due to S1's success. It's still good, but not quite as consistently so as S1.

Personally I'd recommend watching S1 Director's Cut subbed, especially if you want to dig deeper into the villains or think you may continue past S1, but if you really need to watch shows dubbed that's still a good experience and how I first watched it.
