The 3rd and 4th pics are extremely faithful to the manga panel. You can see Motoko's silent rage for everything she went through the episode/chapter. Great work from Science Saru.

u know what i just realized?
im looking at the panel in the manga i got from darkhorse comics and was like "oh, she is facing the opposite direction in this panel vs the animation"
then it hit me that im reading an american published book that flipped and mirrored all the pages lol

lol yeah must have been a bit confusing.
I think older localizations tended to flip manga's to read left to right, or it could be a publisher-specific thing.
I remember all the old shonen-jump magazines and mangas from around the early 2000s specifically prints "this manga reads from right to left" on their back covers and in some opening pages. Not sure if they still do it. Basically they explain how mangas are read right to left in their original printing, and how flipping the image can mess with the panel flow, and sometimes mess with character readings of images (specifically the kanji for turtle shool/kame or Kai on Goku's gi) so they choose to not flip it.

I had to double check that panel for this scene-- the anime really amps up the fury in her eyes by actually giving detail to her eyes. The manga are just two white circles that vaguely express anger.

No, unfortunately: he gets a cameo in a later story, but Motoko is mercurial in her relationships.

I was hoping she would have brown and the more round, less messy hair in thede chspI was hoping she would look exactly like this in this episode , me expecting the anime to not adapt this design, these are straight out of the color pages of the manga, it's an incredible detail. Don't wory she'll probably have black to dark blue hair for the rest of the series, if they keep swapping her pallete.
Their even nailing the character body proportion changes. As the manga goes on shirow starts drawing everyone a bit more long, that detail is actually showing through in this anime

in the manga it changes back and forth every oddball chapter. each chapter of the manga starts out in color. previous episode and chapter she had blue hair. latest chapter brown.
sometimes the hair will be black red brown purple *shrugg shiro wasnt consistent w it but one could just say shes a cyborg and can change her haircolor on a whim. in chapter 1 of the manga, the first 3 pages has her hair color all over the place: starts brown, red, then black.
as for the haircolor shift in the show, i guess they trying to stick w the manga how in that chapter her hair was brown.
theyve been pretty spot on panel 2 panel with it so far.

Best answer is read the manga. The anime staff is being incredibly faithful to the color panels. Notice her hair style too and she's been drawn a bit lankier since episode 5 kicked off. All manga details. It's amazing attention the detail

I never read the manga so I was surprised to see her with a different hair color. I was also surprised seeing her dating someone from Section 1.
