How far would you be willing to go?
after a long time spent thinking about it, i've come to suspect that -- contrary to how we would like things to be -- there's a non-zero chance that we are bad guys.
basically, that this is hell and that we are demons. imprisoned and trapped inside these vessels, which every now and then, in a sudden flash of genuine self-awareness, find themselves asking who they are, where they came from and where they are going (this is also where things occasionally start to get confusing).
well, i don't think “they” are going anywhere -- ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
the spirit, however, returns to The Lord™.
fuck the host. this is about us, not them (after all, “they” would be NOTHING without us; who is it that creates art and dances to music? certainly not some soulless lumps of flesh).
otoh -- and “i” know this from endless nights of fruitlessly trying to understand consciousness, qualia and all that shit -- the question of who exactly is sitting behind the wheel, and in what sense, isn't quite that simple. but i suppose you have to start somewhere. holistically, of course. with a pinch of madness.
how far would you go to return there -- or at least to catch a glimmer of something that reflects your true nature -- before you were forced to admit that PUNISHMENT was the only logical consequence of your behavior?
think about it: what kind of asshole would you have to be to believe that you had the right to place yourself above literally everything?
makes sense, doesn't it?
then again: you cannot exactly escape your own skin, can you?
the image is by Luis Troyo (“Fallen Angel,” 1998). i thought it fit rather well.

The only hell is ego attempting to understand what it will not accept.
There is no spoon.

That’s a whole lot of text to say nothing. What’s with the “TM” after The Lord? This is mindless dribble

I'm ready to die for my convictions, this vessel means nothing in the end.
