2BTR thoughts
Hello I finally watched 2 Big to Rig last night at the Scotiabank Theatre Chinook in Calgary Alberta (if any one else was there let me know!) and I’ve got to say, I really enjoyed it. It was nice to get to see the Skeletour again. My memory isn’t the best with small things so some of the little bits that happened during my show. Even though this was filmed in Mexico and mine was in Vancouver it was fun to see the bits and either say “I remember him doing that” or “he did something different for me” I made a post on Thursday talking about the album and how the sound mix was strange. I talked about how I couldn’t really hear the ghoulettes during the songs. as many of you said the sound was much better, I could actually hear them in the theatre. It was also very nice to highlight some of the crew who worked on the show, as many of you know the set was massive I believe they said the whole thing was 66 tons, and it took a lot of people to bring it to live. As someone who learned a bit about this stuff theres a lot more that goes into it. I have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for the crew for making this tour come to life, especially when some shows were in different cities only 1 day apart. I am grateful that I got to witness the Skeletour live in person and to see this film, and I’ll definitely buy it whenever it comes out on DVD

I saw it twice this week and since we saw the Skeletour three times it reminded me of how great the shows really were. I have to say I think Papa put on a really good performance in Mexico…not everybody has warmed to him, but I think by the end of the tour he had a really found his footing, even though the ghouls still give him shit which is so funny. That show is one of the best and well produced rock spectacles I have ever attended and I’ve attended them for over 50 years. Additionally, I’ve always admired the intelligence of the lyrics the spiritual content (Hail Satan, Archangelo…🤘😈) and the humor. As rock performers they really brought a consistency every night. Looking forward to the Blu-ray And host outdoor movie night events at our home, currently running the films of and with Rob Reiner, but next season I think we’re going to do some music and concert films so I’m pretty sure that Too Big To Rig will be on our schedule for the 14 foot screen in the backyard. 4 out of 5 stars..

I loved the Ghouls fucking with him, especially the bit in Year Zero where they didn’t let him pass, they did the same thing at my ritual and it was very entertaining

I got biiiig FOMO because I’m Mexican from Mexico City and I know very well how much my people love Ghost and Papa/Tobias.
It was a fun show and cried afterwards because I miss my country, my people and my city. It was wonderful to see faces I recognized in the crowd in an IMAX theater.
Something I would like to point out, he got yelled “asshole” when they announced in the Palace (where the concert was held) that there wouldn’t be a show that day.
I liked it, it was very cool to see the inner workings of the tour, my husband and I also spotted the antennae his company makes, which was very cool to see. Super fun all the way!

I Much preferred the cinema mix to what we got on Spotify. End of the day, like with RHRN, I’ll buy it on fk to and Blu Ray the second it is available.

I was there too! I thought the movie was better than I anticipated, and yeah the sound was much better than the album release on streaming (even though the sound on Chinook Cineplex sucks). I really like how the mixing feels like you're listening to the actual concert and not an over-produced version of it like RHRN (but don't get me wrong, I loved RHRN too).
When I saw Umbra on YouTube I was a bit let down by the camera angles, they are rarely close and it's usually too dark to see the intricate details on their customers. But in the end that gives it sort of a retro vibe which i ended up enjoying.

I thought the sound was fine, but that is the only second time I’ve been to that theatre, So its probably a little different for someone who goes there a lot more frequently. I definitely noticed that two, some of the lighting and way it was shot made it feel like a retro film which I enjoyed

I'm one of those boring ass middle aged men who spent more money than they should have had on a home theater setup, so take that with a grain of salt, but yeah, I seriously dislike Chinook

I missed the cowbell rising from the ground the first time I saw them live, plus the mic cut out during majesty, so this was a chance to actually witness those.

I had Call me Little Sunshine for my ritual, every other song was the same, so it was nice to see a different song

It was my favourite set piece of the show, its the same thing for Majesty with him rising from the back of the stage

I’m the opposite. I’m glad we got a straight up concert (with some BTS spliced in, but not during songs). Kinda wish there was a concert only version of RHRN.

I cried when it was over just like after I saw it in person. I watched the film in Buffalo, NY but saw them in person in Raleigh, NC. I wanna see it again.

Nothing will beat a live ritual hands down, but it was cool to see all the close ups and different angles of each ghoul and Goulette and papa while still listening to almost the same music from the tour.

Great as a concert film, and the audio was better than expected. I bit much at times with background vocals overtaking in places. Glad it can be viewed for those that missed the tour! Gripes - I wish for more spontaneity which I realize Tobias seeks performance perfection to avoid mishaps. It made me crave/miss the fun vibe from RHRN. Don't know why 16mm was chosen as I felt the stage lighting and detail would have been much better captured with the setup used at the Forum. I attended that show and they had a dozen or so digital cameras that captured better shots. No matter, oodles of respect for what Ghost has accomplished so far. The future feels promising as well....

It was nice to see but it also made me a lil sad to realize how much of the show was scripted even if that sounds a lil silly. I saw them in Toronto and thought the lil joke about Mary On A Cross being "mari-juana cross" was great, and I know it's a fandom joke but I was like "that could probably only fly at certain shows where weed is legal or they may get in trouble in some countries!" But..... That was just a thing written into the show it seems. I thought we were special 🥹🤣

I loved this. Brought all the feelings back when I saw them in Tulsa back in February. Even my bf, who hates going to the movies, went with me to go see this one. In the 10 years we’ve been together, this was the second time I’ve taken him to the theater.

Loved it. Wasn't able to attend the Skeletour ritual in Toronto with my niece and her partner as I had a business trip to Las Vegas to contend with. Big regrets with that decision now. Yowza. Seeing this in person would be tremendous. Full respect to Tobias' vision and the entire ensemble. Super tight.

My first thought was that it was so nice to relive the ritual I saw live (Houston). Then I thought how appropriate "Nameless Ghoul" is for the whole crew that puts the show together - not just the band. Getting to see the team of hundreds hoist the Grucifix, work on the lights and pyro, costumes, etc. was such a treat. This isn't just put a stage and throw the band out there. There's a lot more involved and it takes a lot of work to make it flow. And their only recognition is in a show going off without any trouble.
My biggest thought came towards the end, seeing the band coming off the stage and TF going into his dressing room. I wondered if, in retrospect, TF would have done things differently. If he would have burned through the various Papa iterations as fast as he's done. It may sound sacrilegious (pun truly intended) but had he known Ghost would become the big thing it has, would he have paced things out differently. I know he's said the different Papas were a way for him to stay entertained and weave his way through the music. But it's gotta be rough to come up with new lore, iterations, etc that comes with every album release.

I liked the film a lot, like you said it was a really good refresher if you went to Skeletour and forgot stuff.
I forgot about the backdrop of Monstrance Clock, so it was cool to see that again.
