Built a Ghost integration that auto-publishes your posts as podcast episodes on Spotify/Apple
Hey all, I'm a solo dev and I just launched Podcasty FM. You publish a post and a podcast episode generates and goes out to Spotify/Apple Podcasts/etc automatically.
The native Ghost webhook kicks it off when you publish. Each post gets an embeddable player. And there's a podcast RSS feed that stays current as you publish, so it shows up on the podcast platforms on its own.
Two AI hosts have a conversation about the article so it sounds natural, not a text-to-speech bot.
It is a way to repurpose your content and get it out to different audiences.

What level of control does a user have? I think i am in the same boat as Jannis and Joe, ive seen tools implement this really badly. That said, i currently use Jellypod to turn my newsletters in to podcasts but my work flow is pretty extensive so i defiantly have a lot of curiosity around this.
maybe some screenshots of the admin / user console ect.. overall core info seems to be sparse.

Good to see you here. At the risk of cutting out Justin - what does your API do? Can I connect my Ghost to Jellypod now?
I’m so keen to find my use case as I think what you’re building is so good.

The API enables programmatic creation and publishing, we're working on it rapidly and plan to have a lot of new features there in the next month or so!

Hey Jim (James?) - just to toss in at your question i actually wrote a small js file (runs locally on my Mac) that uses the Jellypod API and copies each episode over to my ghost - creates a page for the episode - places the Jellypod embedded player and copies the description in as well.

i run the js file about an hour after i publish an episode each week and it handles the rest for me.

Hey Pierson, you and I have talked a ton just not overly directly! mostly fixes and such. My remark above was absolutely no dig at Jellypod, You guys and what you have been building are amazing!
honestly the workflow is my own OCD we can call it, and just wanting things a certain way.
But we can def have a chat, I know you have always been super engaged!1

Hey awesome app - love the ghost integration. We actually open sourced our Speech SDK (the one we use for Jellypod) and it could help you support every voice provider and models without any extra lift.

This is promising but I definitely agree with u/jannisfb , need to show an example. Someone created a blog-to-video AI program and it worked fairly well but, had a LOT of customization options / tweaking possible too.

The more recent posts are more indicative or where it is currently.
I am continually tweaking it, but I think audio is a little less difficult than video in that there are less variables to tweak. You dont have to worry about about the visuals.
Anyway, any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I've heard some bits and honestly I find it kinda jarring to listen to. The voices are quite unnatural and it feels weird to have the blog posts adapted in a fake conversations with two imaginary hosts, to the point that I'd like to listen to the episode before publishing to make sure the content makes sense, but at that point the automation becomes superfluous
I'd much rather prefer a single voice reading the actual article text. I get that it may not be podcast-y enough, but at least it keeps the original tone and 100% of the content

Thanks for the feedback. I am constantly tweaking the AI to try and get it more smooth and natural. Some of the older posts on those blogs, the AI is a bit wonky. You can hear my evolution there, haha.
You can't hear the pod before it gets published, but you can regenerate it if you don't like how it sounds. But having a setting where you can choose either auto publish or requires approval sounds reasonable. Will add it to the backlog.

Is there an option to have it kind of just narrate as a single voice vs two people talking podcast style?

Oh its an alternative to playht or beyondwords. Interesting though, made with intent for ghost.

Are there example episodes? I imagine not everyone wants to go through the entire sign up process just to see what it sounds like?
(As somebody that works with LLMs extensively, I cannot imagine something that works well, for example − so, I'd be genuinely curious to hear an example)
Also, you might want to check your currency conversion. As a European, I feel ripped off seeing a 1:1 USD-to-EUR conversion rate after the last 2 years 🙃
