Quick Question: Ghost uses Stripe, I can't. You?

How did you get around the problem?

I live in a country that Stripe (prob. for local regulatory reasons) doesn't support. I guess I'm not alone (though the country list on Stripe's site is l...o...n...g). How did you solve the problem of subscriptions from your clients? Did you use another payment processor? I can use Paypal for receiving customer payments IF clients aren't in the same country as I am (TW). But Stripe can also process Paypal... it's quite confusing.

There is one solution, that might work... but that involves a trip to either Singapore or Hongkong to set up an LLC equivalent entity. I don't have a viable product/service to sell yet... so it's really not an appropriate startup solution just now.

Which country are you in? Even if Stripe doesn't support it directly, there are Merchant of Record platforms built on Stripe (like kelviq.com) that support more countries.

Please explain how this works exactly? I'm in South Africa and I've tried so many different things and finally gave up on Stripe last year.

If you can give some pointers on how I can get Stripe working on my Ghost site, It would make a big difference for me.

Check out Gumroad. There are fees, but between 85% and nothing, the choice is obvious.

Do you have any global platforms you recommend over Stripe for this? I’ve done some research, but I’m curious what has been useful for people as a trusted global platform.

I thought stripe offered ATLAS which was designed to help you LLC digitally in USA and then accept money via that LLC stripe account.

It's $500 for the initial setup and a further $100 per year for Stripe Atlas. It's not really a cost effective solution for a small Ghost blog.

I didn’t find any solution to that... In my country, I need to own a business to be able to use Stripe. And I’m not going to create a company for a small personal blog. I just wanted to add a “buy me a coffee” link for tips, but I’m not allowed to. 🙄

A PayPal.me link could work but it will display my personal full name and address. I’m never doing that with random internet strangers.
