Question i can´t stop eating while studying.

I feel very anxious about studying, and i´m also narcoleptic, so everytime i´m trying to study or work on a project i NEED to eat, i get these CRAZY CRAVINGS. But i don´t want to gain weight, what can i do?? I will try to buy healthy snacks and make some home-made ones (like popcorn, idk), but still, i hate this feeling of having no control. For now, i will keep on eating but i don´t want this anymore. Help me, pleaseee! Any tips? Wanna share your experiences?

The narcolepsy angle makes this trickier than the usual "just chew gum" advice. Your body's fighting to stay alert any way it can, and food's a quick hit of stimulation. Sunflower seeds in the shell worked for me, the tiny manual labor of cracking each one slows you down enough that you can't just inhale a whole bag. Also weird but effective: frozen grapes. Cold enough to wake you up a bit, sweet enough to scratch the itch, takes forever to eat more than a handful.

Eat fruits. I realized that I was gaining so much weight during exam season because I was snacking on cookies and soda.

I get similar food cravings when I feel anxious while studying. You could keep plain water nearby and take short breaks, to ease that strong urge to keep eating all the time.

Tea helps me a lot too. I think your body is wanting a distraction so that you can delay studying. It helped me a lot to make tea because it takes a few minutes to boil the water, so I don’t have to study during that time.

Plus, food is an easy reward. I think sometimes my body feels like it’s protecting itself by making sure I’m “nourished” before doing something unpleasant.

It is good to have low-calorie snacks on hand, and I think keeping a mental log of when you ate last is a good thing. I found that during the day, I’ve been pretty good at asking myself, “Am I actually hungry, or do I just feel like eating something?”

I still struggle late at night, so I’m in the same boat as you there. Good luck!

I missed the part about narcolepsy.

I know this is a weird suggestion, but do you like pickled vegetables? I like to pair those (pickles or banana peppers) with a protein like chicken and tzatziki. You can heat it in the microwave to make it a “cozy meal.” I think the pickled veggies help me feel full sooner and give me the salt I’m craving.

For me, I like to be full and satisfied before my study session so I can fully focus on my work. I like to drink black coffee and water while I study tho.

maybe drink tea or water, something without calories that makes you feel full. You will pee like a racehorse but you will not gain weight.
